i cannt explore my files

    i am using win xp pro and a friend burnt some files onto a dvd disc for me . i can explore the disc only 3/4 times now i cannt get the dvd disc to run so that i can explore it some more . i tried dvd/cdrom properties and tried to change the auto play to open it but no luck . i do not have a dvd writer

    Have you tried the DVD on a different DVD drive? If it doens't work on that, then i suggest that the DVD has "decayed". Depending on the quality of the disk or how you stored it, may result in the file allocation table (type structure) at outside of the disk to have been damaged somehow. Unfortunately, if that is the case, then its gonna be difficult to recover data.

    Try searching google for a data recovery tool. It won't be able to determine the beginning and end of files, (some of them will probably be corrupt as well), but if you know the content of the files, you could probably recover most of it.
