Hi. I need your help in deleting certain .msg files that I have saved from MS outlook. They can't be deleted, rename or move. I tried using killbox and other file deleting softwares but if I go to that file the program will just hang. When I am trying to delete the file it will just say preparing to recycle and it will go on and on. I tried deleting it in the command prompt but it says the path is not specified. I have 2 files in my desktop and I think they are even causing problems to my other programs.

    Thanks!

You've done a Shift-Delete and they won't go that way either?

You know that you put them there and you know what is in them?

Doesn't sound right. I would scan them with malwarebytes (updated) and if that doesn't show anything i would go through the malware guide found here http://forums.majorgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=35407

I just recently had a problem with an Outlook Express .dbx file that was causing OE to hang when exiting.
The file had been corrupted and I had to boot in Safe Mode to be able to delete it.
Of course you want to make sure that the file is not In Use when trying to delete.
Also, you may want to check the file's attributes and remove any there.
At a command prompt, type attrib /? for syntax and parameters.

tried shift delete but it just says preparing to delete and it goes on and on.

I will try to the malware removal. Tried also deleting in safe mode but it can't be deleted there also. it also says it is an invalid file.

I also attached a zip file as a sample of those files.

    Hello,
If you find that your problem is not malware related, try downloading a small linux distro like Puppy Live CD. It is an iso image so you will have to burn it with something like Imgburn (freeware) at a slow speed. Boot the CD and navigate to your file. Right click and select delete. Good Luck.

The simplest solution May be to run the Windows Disk Error-Checking tool and check
    "Automatically fix file system errors"

    • Open My Computer or Explorer
    • right click the C: drive and select 'Properties'
    • click the 'Tools' tab
    • under Error-checking, click 'Check Now'
    • check "Automatically fix file system errors"
    • click 'Start'

This process may take a While.
You will have to Restart the computer to initiate this process.
After it has completed, see if you can access the file for deletion.

    If Not...

Download FileAssassin and see if this will delete the file.

    Another option is KillBox

    Good luck :wave

    Hi,

Have just gone through that very same trouble on my Win7 64bit, Office 2010 computer.
None of the described resolutions did work. What ultimately did the trick is the freeware CCleaner in today’s version 3.09.1493.

    Good luck,
    Stefan
