I can't download anything since installing SP2.

I posted a similar thread in the spyware section, since I thought problem might be spyware related. But after talking to Road Runner, they told me that downloading SP2 might be to blame. During my windows update, there were a couple of files that didn't download, but I can't remember what they were. I just skipped over them. I've tried turning off my firewall, adding exceptions, but still can't download anything. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I started out just trying to do a thorough spyware search, but I can't download any new programs or updates.

 

When you try to DL some thing look at the top of the page. You should see a yellow bar just below your browser. Click on the bar and you should get a drop down menu. select down load then select "Run" or "save".

 

I didn't see a yellow bar anywhere. As soon as I click on something to download, for example, I was trying to install the VX2 plugin for ad aware, but as soon as I click to download, I get an error message that reads "Internet Explorer cannot download 'whichever file' from 'whichever website' Internet Explorer was unable to open this website. The requested site is either unavailable or cannot be found. Please try again later" I've been getting this message ever since I downloaded XP SP2. I've tried unplugging my cable modem for a while and plugging it back in. I'm going over to my brothers to try and copy the VX2 plugin to a cd and installing it from there. Another thing I noticed, I can update Ad-Aware when it is running, but I can't update from their website. Don't know if that means anything.
