I have a Radeon 9800 pro All-In-Wonder and a Syntax s648a motherboard (http://www.syntaxusa.com/catalog/product_info.php?products_id=109). No matter what I do I can't enable 8x AGP. I know that my motherboard support 8x, but I can't seem to find any options in the BIOS to enable it. I've updated to the latest drivers for everything as well as updated the BIOS, but I still can't get it. Some programs I have used say that my motherboard only supports 4x, but I know this is wrong. I just can't figure out what is going on.

Make sure the BIOS rev. # is the most current one, often there would be bugs with the initial rev. the mobo comes with and a BIOS update for mobo manufactured over a year ago is adviseable if problems exist in the current configuration. Also when you are installing the mobo drivers whenand if it prompted you for AGP driver installation, you should always pick the 'Turbo mode' instead of 'Normal mode' to enable the 8x/4x (whichever is applicable) mode. For the settings in the BIOS, I think it'd be in the "Advanced BIOS/PCI settings" page...also what programs are claiming that your mobo only supports 4x? Could they be giving your inaccurate info?

i hada similar problem where i could only do x2 on a x4 board and enabling fast writes fixed the issue ... but I think your problem has to do with an outdated, faulty or non-existant mobo driver ... try reinstalling them

I've already updated to the most current bios (I could only find one), as well as removed and reinstalled all of the motherboard drivers (nowhere did it mention "turbo mode"), but I still can't do much about it. I think that I'm just going to get a new motherboard. 3Dmark says that my motherboard only supports up to 4x, but I recently downloaded Everest and it says I can get 8x.

Shadow, Pyrate also touched a good point some of the AGP settings in the BIOS would control that as well, make sure you have the AGP/Video Shadowing/Fast Writes, etc. enabled....

Also on the page that opens up from the link you gave in your first post, 4th one from the top the AGP VxD (Virtual Device Drivers) did you also install that too? I can't think of anything else ....if all is correct 8x mode should have been active if both the MOBO and Video Card supported it...

The only settings in my BIOS that have anything to do with video are AGP Aperture Size, Graphic Window WR Combin, and Video RAM Cacheable. I've fiddled with all of these but it makes no difference. And yes I installed the AGP VxD drivers, as well as the newer one provided by SIS. I guess it's just a cheap motherboard.
