Starting yesterday, and today, I cannot use my usual Shortcuts ( that normally work ) to go straight to the various MG Forums that I access every day. I have the Shortcuts set up as part of the 9 Speed dials on Opera. I just updated to the latest Opera from v9.25 This is the only reason I can think of.

Every time I click on 1 of the 6 speed dials I have allocated to MG and Forums, out of 9, I am transferred to the MG front page ( www.majorgeeks.com ) :cry

I have tried clearing the Speed Dial entry and reloading it, but the same thing happens.

    Need help please.

    Bazza

PS: I am off the Firefox now to see if it does the same thing to me :confused

All my Firefox Speed dial Shortcuts to MG Forums worked fine.
Must be this version of Opera????

    All helpful contributions welcome.

Upgraded, again, just now to latest version Opera (BETA) 10.52 Build 3338 out today.

    Same problem. :cry :(

Do you have any Opera skins(themes) installed? If so try switching to the Opera standard skin. I have a few installed. Ever since upgrading beyond 10.10, depending on which skin I use different things seem to be broken, but using the standard skin every thing seems to work right. I've not had any problems with speed dial in any of them though.

Just added a couple more MajorGeeks forums to speed dial, they seem to work right. Same version as yours.

Thanks plastidust. No skins installed. I never bother to change basic use programs such as browsers, usually less problems. ;)

I've noticed that Opera no longer keeps the average speed of the download. I like this info to show people the speed of your own downloads. Think I'll go back to 9.25 again. It's prettier, too. :-D Although I would appreciate the answer to my first post if anyone can help.

Might try clearing Opera's cache/cookies and just for kicks, flush the DNS cache.

Take a look in your opera\profile directory for the speeddial.ini file. It contains all the links for speed dial and would look something like this:

    Code:
    Opera Preferences version 2.1
; Do not edit this file while Opera is running
; This file is stored in UTF-8 encoding

    [Background]
    Enabled=0

    Reload Interval=0
    Reload Only If Expired=0

    [Speed Dial 2]

This is from work and I'm useing the usb version of Opera, and off hand I can't remember exactly where the installed version has the profile directory, but that's where I would start.

Looking at my home computer, the speeddial.ini is at:

    C:\Documents and Settings\<username>\Application Data\Opera\Opera\speeddial.ini

Has to be a configuration setting.
I use Opera (latest version) with no problems at all.
Usually means you tossed your cookies out.

I wonder... I've had issues with Chrome's speed dial and Majorgeeks, too. (Although, I couldn't duplicate with Opera - but, I'm on an older version)

I wonder if cookie standards have been updated, causing MG's not to work with latest versions of some browsers? (Pure speculation, of course)

    Thanks, Tux_Rules.

    Your Speeddial is at:
    C:\Documents and Settings\<username>\Application Data\Opera\Opera\speeddial.ini

    Mine is at:
    C:\Documents and Settings\<username>\Application Data\Opera\Opera\profile\speeddial.ini

Apart from that, the actual speeddial.ini looks similar enough to yours.

Did you make a typo or should I shift my speeddial ini (or copy it to one step up?

+++++++++just noticed you mentioned opera\profile in your 7th post so I now assume it was only a typo++++++++++ Damn.

    PS: Added attachment (speeddial.ini)

    On mine it's located at:

    C:\Documents and Settings\<UserName>\Application Data\Opera\Opera\speeddial.ini

Not showing a "speeddial.ini" file in the profile folder.

My first post was done at work, and I have to use the portable USB version, so file locations are a bit off ;)

The post after that was from my home laptop, showing the file in the location of:

    C:\Documents and Settings\<username>\Application Data\Opera\Opera\speeddial.ini

I'm not sure why yours would be in the place it is:

    C:\Documents and Settings\<username>\Application Data\Opera\Opera\profile\speeddial.ini

Did forget to mention that I am using XP Pro.

You could manualy edit the file to make you speed dial entries, though, if the normal way is not working.

I notice that Opera have releases another update, Opera (BETA) 10.52 Build 3344, out today at MG at www.majorgeeks.com
    Download at http://www.majorgeeks.com/Opera_BETA_d6298.html

I've downloaded it and will install it over Easter. In the meantime I am using v9.25 again with no problems.

Have already downloaded and installed 10.52 b3344. All it does is crash, wants to send a crash report then, restart and repeat the cycle.
