in the control panel ( add/remove programs), when I click my right mouse button for properites the drop down appears but the screen doesn't. I can't find cookies anywhere, and when I go to my excite email it says that my settings are to disable cookies ( and in the tools section I can not find cookies in the privacy area. and when I boot up I get a fatal error but not when I boot up in safe mode.

It would help a LOT to have more information. What Operating System do you have? What is the fatal error message that you are receiving? Since your cookies options are "missing", is this a computer you use at work or personal?

The more information you provide about your system and any error messages you are getting the more help you are likely to receive. Thanks!

    the error message is :
    fatal error
an error has occured in logerror - error = path not found. please contact systems integration.

this is my company computer, but the sad thing is I am the company computer guru. I know how to install a mouse so I got that title. we have microsoft windows 2000 professional. when I click on help in IE, the version shows nothing next to it, same as Cipher strength and product ID. all that is gone. When I click into excel or word it gives this error:
cannot use object linking and embedding.

and of course I can not cut and paste so I can't give you a glimps of the screen.

and this all started when I downloaded Ad Aware SE from this site just to get rid of a few pop ups.

When you ran Ad-Aware, did it find anything? If so, I would suggest restoring everything and see if that corrects the issue first. I would point out the steps for this, but I am not familiar enough with Ad-aware to list the steps to restore everything w/out a copy of it in front of me.
