i can't share files or my printer

im trying to set up a network with a windows2000pro computer and this XP computer .. and neither computer will detect the other on the network ... I am thinking i might have disabled a service but running through blackviper.com and enabling all the services that i would think need to be enabled for networking to work and it didn't do me any good ... as i know little or nothing about networking i may have missed a service ... it is either that or the fact that i reinstalled 2000 as i haven't tried to print anything out since then

the thing that gets me that is with the network wizard when they tell you to use the windows XP CD in the other networked computers ... it doesn't support windows2000! ugh!

 

do you have file and printer sharing installed in your network configurations? Right click My Network Places-->Properties-->Right click Local Area Connections-->Properties, and make sure File and Printer Sharing for Microsoft Networks is installed.
