    Have a look at this I googled - http://www.hothardware.com/viewarticle.cfm?articleid=105&catid=3

It seems as though your motherboard has pci and agp, but only 4x agp so wouldn't take advantage of 8x cards. If you scroll down a bit and see the 3 motherboard pictures, particularly the Gigabyte 8PE667 Ultra you'll see the pink slot is an agp slot. Have a look for it on your motherboard.

Another rule of thumb is...If you look immediately above the pci slot ( the white horizontal slots at the bottom of the motherboard, usually atleast 2-6 of them) it is similar to that but it is about 1 inch shorter, and they are usually a brown color ( in most of the budjet priced boards, some of the higher dollar fancier boards, might use a different color, like pink!!) that would be an AGP slot

What exactly is your mtherboard make and model...and I will show you a pic and explain what we are looking at!!

But dont let that deter you from an AGP8X card. Even though you ojly have a 4x port, I doubt you'll see any noticeable performance hit on an 8x card.

Even though your system is clearly running on an AGP video card you may not be able to upgrade your system with a new AGP video card. This is because a lot of systems with an onboard video card use an integrated AGP bus, but don't have an AGP expansion slot. Thus leaving you to upgrade to a PCI video card or getting a new motherboard. (This is not the case on all boards, but it is the situation with my friend's Dell Dimension 3000 and my Shuttle SS40G.) If you like I could recomend a good PCI video card to you if you wish to upgrade.

You can usually tell if you have an AGP slot if the top slot is extended back from the other slots on the board by about an inch, and is a different color. You could even look on screening on the board and see that it probably says something like agp next to it. If it doesn't have an AGP slot you can probably see where one would have been soldered in, this is the situation in the two systems listed above.
