That guy says he went to sleep with Windows 8 and woke up with Windows 10. Some of the people who've replied in that thread have said if you have automatic updates turned off, you should be fine. Is that true? Or has Microsoft come up with some oily bastard way to sneak Windows 10 onto your computer regardless?

True, but I thought, as I said, that Microsoft may have come up with a new way to bypass all the known preventative measures.

 

No they have not. It's simple. If a user allows the prerequisite updates, and does not use any blocking software or registry edit, it will happen at some point before July 29 this year, when the free upgrade ends. But it is true that MS do want all 7 and 8 OS users to upgrade. We have known about that and why for a long time.

I have done some heavy modding on windows 10.And got rid of all the crap that microsoft put on.And so far it works well.

Once you eliminate the junk that they did runs perfectly fine.

 

Later releases of Win 10 might just have some "improvements" that you'd like. I'm running the insider preview version 14233. They've brought back Microsoft update (where you can download/install updates for Windows and other products from Microsoft Update) among other changes.
