I do not want to pay to open a winzip file

I purchased some sheet music online. They said it would be a PDF sent in an email with a zip file of the sheet music in 1-3 days. It was.
Now I have to buy WINZIP soaftware to open it?!?!
Any free alternatives that you know of?

What is the extension? That's the 2-3 letters after the period(.) in the fie name.
Example: example.zip

 

Try 7zip, it's free.

Windows opens zip files. Right click and select Extract All from the list. 7zip will also open them, along with other types of compressed files.

 

Extract all was not on the list when I right-clicked, but "Explore" was. And there they were! 3 PDF's. Geez, now what did I do with my "that-was-easy- button?

Zip File Programs (Freeware Alternatives)

7 Zip and ZipGenius are freeware alternatives which are both very easy to install and use... I currently have ZipGenius installed and enjoy using it very much. Side Note: If you are totally unfamiliar with using .zip files I would advise looking through the help files prior to using them.
