i dont know if this is the right place but my sound is screwed :(

Hi, just about 20 minutes ago, i came to my computer and ALL the songs where playing really weird like there was no voice and all echoed. I have no idea whats happened its very strange. ive tried looking the sound settings (byw, im running XP) and looked for things that might possibly be wrong and i couldnt find anything. ive tried playing from different sound cards and both of them are the same kind of noise. i have a LAN so i shared the music files and they played fine on a different computer, so i moved that computers speakers over to this one and still the same sound was produced. Ive restarted like a million times and this is really starting to annoy me! like i said, this maybe the wrong forum but i am pretty certian thats it not BOTH of my sound cards malfunctioning and therefore an XP problem. can anyone help me or direct me to someone who might be able to help?
