I don't like Case Reviews

(While this is a hardware topic, generally, my vent is more towards the attitude of the peabrained reviewers of PC cases.)

I don't like PC Case reviews. They SUCK. The reviewers take huge cases and load in a MicroATX board, load in a single SSD and say, "Gee - lookee! How nice and clean TWO cables are that I've hidden away! I'm oh-so-fashionable - look at the color coordinations!! Wheeee!!"

Seriously - these 'guys' get off staring thru windows on PC cases rather than getting the computer to DO something?!! Sheesh...

And EVERY drive cage is engineered FOR USE. Some engineer has drawn in 8 bays, and case reviewers refuse to use HALF of them, even, then priss and prance around the "clean" installation.

I don't want to see CLEAN. I want to see AIRFLOW between drives. I want to see spacings for a LOT of cables. I couldn't give a FLIP about hiding cables - I hafta work on PC cases - I don't want to open up a backside that looks like a Tokyo back-alley or some underflooring of a server farm.

Please oh please, dear Peabrained Case Reviewers - use AT LEAST half of the drive bays! Show us that Antec cases provide more spaces between stacks of hard-drives than CoolerMasters.

Show us that the SATA pedestals on motherboards are a TOTAL MESS because a drive cage is butted up tight to them.

Show us REAL WORLD, and just pretend that some users have more than 1 drive per computer.

The best "reviews" are those posted on Newegg or Amazon from verified purchasers.

You can't just go on the average number of stars - it's important to dig down and read each review. Toss out the ones that focus on the case's "bling" and you'll often see mounting, cooling and other issues that make or break a specific model.

There's nothing wrong with having a bit of expansion room (within reason) in a case. Later on, you may want to add a card reader to an external access bay or add an extra HDD. If there are 4 HDD bays and you're using two drives, I normally leave an empty space between the hard drives to help them stay cooler.

I'm like you reviews are not always the best, they can be a guide, BUT in the main what I like is not necessarily what you like, we all have different needs (this is the same with food) or tastes.

Reviews are a guide only and in the main they do serve a purpose as in that they do show what hardware will look like in a case, for say judging cable management etc.

I agree on showing one drive in a case is futile as I tend to add at least 3 to 5 in builds of mine, current desktop has 2 SSDs and 2 HDDs, needs to have good airflow and be quiet, so space for large 120mm fans is a must, but then that's my need and not that of others, so my case review is bull! ;)
