I.E. update

    when I try to update to internet explorer 8, I get a message saying "application failed to initialize properly (0xc0000135)". Click ok to terminate the application. Can you help me out please? Thanks much

    I'm assuming you're running WinXP SP3.... Try running Windows Update first. Do not choose the Express option, use the Custom option and de-select IE8 from the list of updates, and install all the critical updates listed (except for IE8). If you have SP2, install SP3 first, then do all the critical updates (except for IE). Then install IE8 after a reboot. You can download the SP3 stand-alone installer from this link. The IE8 stand-alone installer can be downloaded from this link for WinXP, or from this link for Vista (a separate 64bit link is available too).
