    Hello,

Been a while since I've been here and was wondering what's the general opinion of Diskeeper's I-FAAST technology? Is it worth double the price of Diskeeper 10 Professional?

Posting, then leaving for day job, will return 7:00pm PST.

    Thanks for helping me choose.

BTW - I'm interested in a serious defrager as I use Photoshop heavily and will soon be using Vegas6 + DVD or similar product for making videos.

Tried Raxco PD and have had problems with it (Tried when it first came out and it had a conflict with Norton Ghost, so I uninstalled it. Then I got rid of Ghost and used Acronis, so I tried PD again, and it's still giving me grief - won't defrag properly, screws up my hard drive management (I have 6 individual drives - 4 SATA and Two PATA).

So now I'm looking at Diskeeper and wondering if anyone knows whether I-FAAST is really worth the price.

    Thanks again,

    Rick

Thanks very much for the link.

Very interesting reading. I'm not familiar with the source of the opinion, but it sure sounds like I would benefit greatly from using I-FAAST, primarily because of the large files I use.

Is there another side to the story, or is that review pretty much dead on?

    Thanks,

    Rick

P.S. No, I haven't tried it. I try not to download too many demos as I get a little rambunctious trying everything, and tend to screw up my system when a program doesn't work right or I don't like it and then it doesn't uninstall cleanly. In other words, it's too easy for me to get out of control and I'm getting tired of clean OS installs. wah, wah, wah...

I personally downloaded the pro-priemier, when it first came out.

I have since converted from Perfectdisk, to this version. I'm awaiting on other software to combat this.

    Other software:

    Perfect disk
    O&O defrag

that sounds like a pretty good endorsement.

I was using Perfect Disk and I don't want to bash the product or company, they have been great to deal with, but PD keeps crashing my system and screwing up my hard drive configurations. It shouldn't, there's no direct conflict issue that I'm aware of, but it just doesn't work. This last time I tried using it, it would finish a defrag with 25,000 fragmented files still untouched, plus it relocated only some frequently modified folders all the way at the far end of the hard drive and no matter how many times I tried to defrag, it wouldn't touch them. Weird!!

Guess it's time to try Diskeeper premium.

    Thanks for your help.

    Rick

No, problem. But, try the TRIAL first.

Also, with perfect disk. How much disk space did you have free? Did you also run an "offline defrag"...as in boot defrag?

Just want to note that the I-FAAST is only available via a scheduled defrag.
