Hello I have a Asus SK8V motherboard with AMD FX-53, Can someone tell me how to overclock it to 2.6 Ghz now its at 2.4 Ghz. I have a Zalmon 9500A cpu cooler and the room is air conditioned @ 73 degrees F. to further help air flow the computer chassis is Silverstone KL02. and power supply Zalmon ZM850-HP. Sapphire Radeon 3850 HD Video card. Westerndigital Raptor 150 gb. two Samsung dvd burners and 4 gb. corsair RAM. I have tried raise the frontside bus but it seems to make the speed drop lower? I dont understand why that happens? Any suggestions please. :confused

I think some chips automatically slow down for faster FSB to maintain similar speed. I don't really have experience overclocking, though I think AMDs may be overclocked internally with some setting? (I just answered because you and I seem to be the only ones posting here. lol)

ECC ram and overclocking don't mix well. You will hit instability on your ram and never get errors as ECC will correct them making your ram slower even at a faster speed. My first gess is that you have cool'n'quiet enabled in the bios, you want it disabled if your overclocking any. ;)

No I do not have the Cool-n-quite enabled. This computer use to be a Alienware Aurora, The person I brought it from kept the chassis for his new upgrade. When I first installed everything it was overclocked to 2.6ghz. I had accidently cleared the cmos one late night, oops.
Then the BIOS restored itself automatically to the original version 1 with no overclocking settings, just the original Asus copy. The memory is the original that Alienware had installed all is matched. I talked to Alienware they said to Flash the Bios with there download Bios flash CD from my Hive on there website. When I completed making the CD and flashed the Bios successfully. I Rebooted the computer the Bios now says it is Version 2 and has no overclock mods. I gave up with Alienware after reading about how they dont give out modified Bios info. unless you ship the computer back to there tech. dept. and they have to make the changes there. I just want 2.6ghz from the 2.4ghz it doesnt seem like this should be that difficult since thats what the computer was originally set up with. And the CPU fan has been upgraded, Zalman CNPS9500A. I would greatly appreciate some help please.
