I Finally Bought A Playstation 5...

It cost me £499 on eBay, plus £15 for P+P.

That's reasonable. Because I seen other sellers charging folk like, £700. LOL.

Funnily enough though, Capcom announced yesterday that the RE4 remake is also planned for the PS4 next year. So once again, there was no immediate hurry to get this console.

However, I was going to get a PS5 eventually. I held off as there hadn't been any games revealed that were of exclusively or of interest. But meh. I can give myself a pat on the back now, I suppose. The console was originally released in the fall of 2020, after all.

Only took me a year to get mine, last November. Love it.

Yes, until recently it’s been difficult to acquire one. I purchased mine via Game store & I had to join a phone queue to see if I was lucky, I chose PS5 with Ratchet & Clank game + an extra controller.
My RE7 & RE8 games were upgraded to the PS5 version for free.

I haven't been to Game in a while. I remember when they almost went into liquidation.

I remember that too. So glad they didn’t as that’s the only dedicated game shop in the UK.

These days, I get my games from Amazon. But if I happen to be out with my mother, I can go to a store at Cameron Toll, or Fort Kinnaird in Edinburgh.

Due to her dialysis treatment and other health conditions, she has been in hospital for over a week.

I haven't heard from my sister since Monday. So I am concerned.

Anyway, the Silent Hill rumours may be temporarily dead after it was made clear that a guy known as Dan Allen Gaming and TheRealInsider admitted he was making up stories about Konami's franchises for to gain some clout, as he put it across.

However, I don't know about whether Dusk Golem is off the hook. In all the time I've kept up with his tweets, he hasn't really been exposed as someone who tells lies. Maybe he got information wrong in the past by mistake. You have to allow for that. It can happen.

But I don't see how this will bode well for Dan Allen Gaming and his future on YouTube. That was just so stupid. Even if he did offer an apology, the damage had already been done.

Sorry to hear that. I hope there’s positive news tomorrow.

I don’t believe anyone outside of Konami would know anything as to whether Silent Hill is being remade. I suspect they’re guessing & on occasion they’re correct but most often not.
I have no doubt they do this to increase their YouTube visitors.

    Yeah, they do.

The web is all fakery; I see this is especially true of dating sites. The online world is the same with anything. I cannot be bothered with it much anymore. There's likely a person for you out there to date, but after you browse like, 6,532,901 time wasters first.

I honestly think it's sad how gamers cannot just play games, leave the politics behind, and well, game on. Gotta be getting those free copies to review (not honestly, however).

I bet many on those dating sites will be scammers. No doubt there’s someone for everyone.

It is sad. Most recently the re fans were gloating over the Netflix series being cancelled after one season. I enjoyed the series.

He’s a good actor. I thought his portrayal of all the Albert Wesker versions was brilliant.
The problem with cancelling shows is that the cliffhanger will never be resolved.

Lately, I have been playing a period adventure called A Plague Tale: Innocence.

I wouldn't say it's really a horror game. More so an adventure. But it does have horror overtones, brilliant voice acting, and sweet graphics.

It's about siblings running from these knights that have invaded your land. You are often chased by a swarm of rats and you have to light a torch to repel them, or light up haystacks or whatever to serve as a distraction. Usually, there's a strategy to employ as the torch will go out.

I kept dying, as it's quite a hard game. You have to plan your next step very carefully. But it has a beautiful, engaging story. A "movie game" to some.

There’s also rumours of a price increase for the PS5 so another reason to celebrate your purchase.

Seems the game will be named The Short Message as this keeps being mentioned in various sources.

Gans said there's multiple games in the works, further stoking the fire started by Dusk Golem. :D

I really hate remakes. There's hardly any remakes (at least of films) that are good. Everything Japan makes, America has to copy. But I know that Bloober Team are fans of Konami, so hopefully they'd do a SH2 remake justice.

Of course, we know deep down that SH2 is Konami's big money maker, ala as is RE4 for Capcom. It's the game that introduced Pyramid Head. I'd say that SH1 was really just Konami 'finding their footing' on the ladder, so to speak. But I'd say SH2, give or take, is the one game in the series that's the most well known or... iconic, I suppose?

SH 2 is rumoured to be the remade first.
SH would benefit more from being remade though.

Yeah. Christophe Gans recently said that Bloober Team are working on a remake of SH2.

They said over a year ago that they were starting work with Konami on a renowned IP of theirs, and the only survival horror themed IP that Konami has is SH. :)

Gans is supposed to begin filming a third movie in April, I think. This one is apparently a reboot.

I think Bloober Team attempted to deny it for a while, to throw people off the scent. Then the Abandoned conspiracy theory happened around that time as well, with so many people thinking Hideo Kojima was using an alias and working in the Netherlands, and that he must have purposefully left clues to troll us.

LOL. We had a good laugh about it on NeoGAF. :D

There’s been so many rumours that it’s difficult to sort fact from fiction with the SH franchise.
Yes that ‘Abandoned’ was either a clever marketing ploy or someone’s idea of a joke.

Capcom has a RE showcase planned for this month, but the date has yet to be confirmed. Most likely be a weekday. At first it felt pointless, because they plan to show the last bit of DLC for Village, which is coming on the 28th. So since the wait is so brief, I have to question why they're doing this.

It's not cool how you cannot just wait for games these days. They basically have to hype you up by spoiling the surprise you could have experienced, and then what do you know? They reveal things so you know what's coming. Things you could have been, well... surprised by uncovering yourself without any prior knowledge.

Would be better to just wait for the new content to play it without knowing anything upfront. Considering this DLC was announced well over a year ago in the summertime, we have been waiting much longer than we usually do.

I think they also want to plug more of the remake of RE4 as well. And I think I will definitely welcome a more horror focused version of RE4, as the original game was great, but it really wasn't very scary in some parts. It was a bit creepy, because of the cultists in the castle and a few of the other enemies. But it relied too much on the action oriented gameplay to drive home the point.

Probably more news on Village DLC & RE4Remake.
No doubt they hype things to get the fans into a frenzy. I felt RE4 was OK but disappointing in the end.

I don't think RE4 is a bad game in itself. But it's not like the older games. Even Leon. He is like a different character.

I believe RE4 was both the saviour and the decline of the franchise as a whole, because it got the series the big sales Capcom had been aiming for, but to achieve this, Capcom had to depart from the by then, outdated gameplay.

One thing I strongly dislike about 4, is the inclusion of a vendor. Because I consider buying supplies in a horror game to be silly, giving how in older games, the idea was to acquire these through searching in the rooms. Having a money system was just crazy to me. But of course, Capcom got their money in the end.

And as we said before, enemies without guns cannot drop bullets. :D

It could’ve been worse with the merchant idea - in-game purchases for ammo, healing items etc, costing real money.

Funnily enough, I thought it suited Days Gone. But that kind of makes more sense, because there's more people living in different camps you are bonding with, and doing missions for.

Rations are low. People trade with trusted individuals, and people would get their hands on guns, and consider them necessary rarities.

In RE4, unless that guy was the sergeant in the U.S. marines, it's just mind blowing as to where the merchant has acquired his loot.

  27. Goddess Bastet

    Goddess Bastet First Sergeant

Perhaps he’s the one picking all the loot up, hence why Leon can’t find anything. :)
Yes, trading would be the better choice.

So I watched the DLC for RE8 today since it's the 28th in some regions, and I thought it was kind of boring.

I am glad Rosemary met up with her dad in the mould world, or whatever it's called. That was touching.

This was all Capcom's way of using the same assets in a dream-like environment, so you go to the same places like the castle, and the house with the dolls, using super powers, and avoiding red mould that seeps through the ground. And then you find out the ending is the same as the main game's ending, at the cemetery. The guy helping Rose wasn't real. It was the main villain Miranda in disguise, as this guy just referred to as "K" by Rosemary.

    So lazy on Capcom's part...

You see Ethan walking towards the car. Then it, um, just ends like that, without a conclusion of any sort. How pointless...

I did not completely hate RE8, but calling it a RE game!? Ha-ha. No way is it truly one. It's more like Demon Souls.

The DLC is a bit disappointing tbh. Shadow of Rose is ok but isn’t the conclusion I was expecting. The ending is the same as you say with a mysterious figure (Ethan) walking towards the car, I expected that to change.
The Doll house was the best part with the mannequins. Very creepy.

Dumb as a brick I’d say.

There’s a thread where they’re refusing to buy the DLC unless they can see Ethan’s face. Why is that important to them.

His face is only partially shown, as Capcom never intended to make his face be fully revealed. So they need to get over that. :D

They were just trying to be like Silent Hill with the mannequin sequence and the house is like the P.T. house. Yet they can explain that it's scientific because she was hallucinating. So it's not supernatural.

Same idea of stealing ideas though, really. :p

  33. Goddess Bastet

    Goddess Bastet First Sergeant

True but some fans will find anything to complain about.

I doubt there’s any new ideas in games anymore.

I don't think so either. Not if they're just content to remake or go "reimagining" old games, that people have played so many times, to the point where they'll know if there's even the slightest bit of cut content.

I know they're recycling these games, so a new audience can appreciate them just like we did, as the originals are getting hard to come by, along with their respective consoles. But when a series has layed dormant for years, then you kind of yearn for something new in the mythology, as opposed to a remake, which isn't new as such. They've got everything already in place. :)

  35. Goddess Bastet

They know remade games will sell to those who originally played the games more than new players. The nostalgia factor is a large pull.

Hopefully the new SH games will be successful.

    I hope so too.

The Australian guy is still denying that he's not this James. Ironically, he says I use forums as a platform to slander these former support workers, who are about as dumb and useless as he is. Then he said the other day there that he has no pictures or identifiable info online. And yet ironically once again, he's using some anxiety forums to slander and abuse me.

One of his favourite hobbies is to use multiple IDs to respond to his own comments, using the name of my mate, Frank, my regular user name, and a bunch of other dumb names.

He kept editing the same wiki pages on this horror films Fandom group to follow me about. But I don't bother with it anymore. Then he added some delete tags to some articles which meant certain contributions I left were expunged, because they weren't meeting the criteria for inclusion, when they were. So naturally, he gloated about that too.

    What a loser...

    Yes, just ignore them.

I’m paid to help PC users & I there’s been occasions that other independent Advisors have signed up under another name to ask a question which they’ve then claimed just to get paid. These people spoil it for the genuine Advisors - these fakes get reported & the IA who claimed them banned.
