I finally did it...

Hey Geeks!

Well, I had threatened to do it a while back, and had been playing around with a Knoppix distro for a bit. But, this past week my ancient laptop and the Windows98se who loved her finally went splitsville. So I installed SuSE 9.1 Personal...yes, a Linux distro...onto the old girl.

So far it's been running OK. No major problems, but I've been posting away on the SuSE forum board like a maniac, asking question after question. I'm sure they probably hate me over there by now...and it's only been, like, a day!

Anyway, I just wanted to tell someone (this board...even though I don't post too much) who I thought would understand the small sense of accomplishment I have with this. I'm still running Windows XP on the main rig...and probably will be for a long time. I still like Windows...just thought it would be fun to try out Linux.

It's strange, though...I feel like I should be loading up all the apps I like to use on my XP machine (things like Avast or a ram deframenter or a reg cleaner) onto the laptop, but I'm not really sure if I need them or if there are even such things for Linux. Oh...oh...that give me an idea for another question!!

Great Ove been seeing stuff like this alot and its really great how successful linux has become. Im using SuSE 9.1 and love it, im planning on trying debian soon. Youll get used to the differences and it will feel like home soon enough
