I just got back from vacation, and I cant remember my password to my Windows XP account. Im typing right now from a limited account that I set up for my brother. How can I proceed to blank or recover my password. The limited acccount im typing from and the acc i need the password for are from the same computer.

Creates a boot disk (floppy or CD) that allows changing or blanking (recommended) of admin passwords. Works with WinNT, 2000, XP, Vista. I've used it. It works GREAT! :D

Does not let me go into MSCONFIG from my limited acc, and since my hard drive is failing again it wont allow me to press F8 from my bootup screen and i cant boot into safe mode that way either.

I have treid to install many ISO programs but they require an Administrator account or they will not install. Any other ideas?

Hard drive is failing ...again??? Oh, my. Can you slave and copy what you need ..then wipe or use manufacturers tools to check and repair the drive?

if you can direct me to a free utility similar to the one hopperdave provided but without all the hassle i might be able to burn a bootable CD once my cousin gets home and turns on his pc.

Is this xp home or pro?

If pro (hopefully), you could hit CTRL + ALT + DEL (x2) at the "welcome" screen. Then type in administrator for the username and press enter for the password.

Unless of course, you created a password for your administrator account.

    ??????
Download the .iso and burn the image to a CD. Boot the CD, follow the steps at the link I posted above. No hassle ;) Easy :D I've used this util numerous times, and NEVER had a problem

Heh, finally fixed it. Actually I was able to get into Safe Mode by shutting down the pc as Windows Xp was starting up, rebooting, and when the select startup mode screen showed up Safe Mode was there. Thanks for the help.
