Seems like you're trying and doing many good things. But since you posted this in the "software" section, I wonder if you've looked in the "spyware" section?

You need to go here NOW and see if you've done these steps:
    http://forums.majorgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=35407

...and follow all the directions. When it talks about specific software, you can most likely download it here on the homepage (if you don't have it), and make sure you check for updates immediately -- if you already have it, double-check versions and updates too.

Let us know what happens after you go and read and DO what is in that post. Hope it helps you.

thanks just ran all the software recommended and nothing found. i have sent emails to all in the address book because all the emails that are received with the virus come from emails with .co.za at the end which is from south africa. it may seem that someone on the other end has the virus.

i dont know how to get this thread over to the spyware section. if somecan move it i will be most grateful.

Your conclusion that it is the people sending to you, may well be correct.
What is your OS and do you have all of your MS updates?

Hello, I work for a cisco systems help desk and I have seen a lot of the mydoom virus. Basically you get an e-mail saying your computer has been sending out spam please download this fix to ensure you havent been hacked or something of the sort. Why you are getting those e-mails is because of A. Mydoom works by going through someones address book in e-mail and mass mailing itself, B. Someone is trying to send you the virus. Check who the mails are coming from, might be spoofed, you can report spoofing to that persons ISP via if its a comcast e-mail blahblah@comcast.net something like that, you can report that to their ISP to see if you can get that stopped. Its good your running system scans, you should be fine, my doom isnt a lethal virus.

the email addres that it is coming from is different every time but just the co.za or .net is the same. the mydoom is coming through as various types of attachments eg: doc,zip and a few others.

my os is xp pro with sp1 i am having trouble with the sp2 install so i am backing up computer first before anything goes wrong with sp2 install.

touch wood all seems to be fine for now. but i will wait for a few days before i can say that all is ok 100% :)
