I got my BROADBAND

Finally, my broadband is connected

A roastin hot 1500/256 DSL connection, gawd it beats the 56k Ive been using the past fortnight!

Now all I need is a new videocard to replace my radeon 9200, I mean, I must be the ONLY.. can I say it.. wan*a.. that has a high end system, but is bottlenecking it becuase I am running PC-2700 memory that does 333 Max, on a 400 board, and has such a low end videocard for a 2.8GHz System.. ahh well I cant afford one for months yet

But atleast I got my broadband connected, that I am syked about! I wish they killed dialup, phased it out completely, it feels soooooo wrong to even use dialup!

Just out of curiousity, what modems do you other DSL users use?

I got myself a Alcatel Speedtouch 530 at the beginning of the year (march) when I first got broadband with Telstra Bigpond, cost me $300 AUD, then I moved, so I signed up with Swiftdsl.com.au and yeah..

I cant remember how to HARD RESET the modem, cant find a url either, telstra told me how to do it when I was with them, 6 seconds or something with the on switch...

Also, which method of connection is better, Bridged PPOE (Saving the connection details to the modem itself, so its always connected) or Routed (Dialin using XP Broadband connection settings)

I currently have it in routed mode, so I tell it to connect, if I go into the modem menu management via http://10.0.0.138 there is also a PPOA option for Bridged, not sure what the diffrence is from PPOE....

If anyone else has the same modem and is very fond of its ins-outs, would you let me know whats the best settings for it are, also I heard you can update the firmware for the modem, I found out where to in the management, but I dont know where to get the firmware from or how to do it step by step.

 

i'm using dial-up!!!! someone give me broadband or something...
