ok im the same person who had the other problem with my comp kept on freezing.
it seemed to be fixed after i reseated the ram and reformatted the hard drive and reloaded the os for like the 4th time.
its been workin fine for about a week. today i left the comp on and went to vaccum the house and after im done i come back to my comp and my computer froze while the screen saver was on.
i tried resetting it with the reset button...nothing happened. i tried cutting power from psu and surge protector waiting and nothing happened...tried again and nothing happened.
the strange thing is that it turns on and looks like its loading...i have it currently set to boot from disk but i have no disk in the player. so it turns on and the monitor turns on then goes to powersaving mode...as if there is no signal coming from the computer. i checked the monitor signal and everything. tried disconnecting the dvd drive...still nothing.
ANOTHER weird thing is that when i try cutting the power from the psu or the surge protector...when i turn it on the computer starts up right away as if the power button is stuck or something. usually when i turn it off or cut the power or something i can turn on the power and still have to turn on the computer.
so everytime i turn it on via power switches since it turns on automatically anyway when its not supposed to, i get nothing. it sounds like its starting up fine and then the monitor goes on with the power...then nothing happens...black screen but everything seems to be running.............
    please help me...
    thanks soooooooo much in advance

ok i got it to turn on and then it said that i needed to install bootdevice or disk.
restarted it and then went into the bios and checked boot device order. since i removed my dvd drive, it only had boot from floppy...???
it didnt recognize my hard drive as a bot device. then i went into my drive configuration and it said i had a hard drive connected.
why cant i boot from it?
so i guess the bios/mobo recognized my hard drive but it is not an ption as a boot device??
    thanks again

ok somehow it decided to start up again and i configured it to boot from my hard drive. everything booted fine but it froze AGAIN...now it tried to restart it and were back to square 1 where it turns on automatically when i turn on the switch with the black screen of death...
in another note...the earlier problem i had with it freezing from my last post. i ran a ram test that i got from here on majorgeeks called memtest. i ran the test overnight for i guess what was about 6-7 hours and it tested out fine with no errors. unless memtest doesnt pick up on faulty ram. and if it passed the memtest that also means that my ram sockets on the mobo arent faulty either right?
im soooo fustrated and between the system running fine after the reformat to now...all i loaded was today and yesterday was winmedia10, divx, xvid, a bunch of codecs, bit torrent, quicktime, macromedia flash, and itunes. programs i loaded and ran fine for this past week were avg free, ez firewall/anit spam/anti virus from roadrunner, adaware

would it possible be a mobo, cpu, psu problem?
would it be possible for other stuff like speakers or dvd drives to cause these problems?

thanks again >_< this is soooo fustrating

You seem to of covered most bases especially with a few reformats and still getting the problem back, to me it would discount a software problem because fo so many clean installs.

So this leaves (maybe) hardware and it could very well be memory but then it could be the hard drive or your graphic card..It is so hard to tell which part it is unless you have access to spare parts.

Now if it is software related it has to be one fo the programs you install after your reformats..Do you always install the same software each time?

have you thought of uninstalling all software you can do without for now and run your computer see if it is fine and after a few days and all is still good then reinstall one programm run for a day if that is fine do the same whith each software until you find the oen that is causing issues..

I see you have bit torrent are you sure you have not downloaded spyware or a virus?

Not sure what more i can think of..

    Good luck..

im pretty sure i didnt download a virus or anything...since the clean install i only downloaded one thing...it ran and seemed fine
but would a virus cause such weird activity?
as for the software...i only installed the basics...the software i mentioned earlier
i was told to try and reset the bios or something...
as for the possibility of the RAM being bad. wouldnt it have not passed the memtest?
im gonna try and troubleshoot them like switching out processor and ram and stuff but i dont have spare working parts

    any other suggestions??????????????

    any is greatly appreciated
    thanks

Yes a virus would cause problems such as you are having..If your memory passed mem test then it still could be the memory as in not suited fro your motherboard..How long have you ahd the memory in the computer giving problems?

If you can access the internet on the computer do an online virus scan go HERE and click on the link for Trendo online virus scan also if you take a look at the page i have linked you to you should take a good read down it there is some great tips and sudgestions for helping in cleaning your drive up nicely..

As for the reset of the Bios they meant to take the battery out motherboard Bios for say 30 minutes then palce it back in this will of cleared your Bios and reset it, or if the motherboard has jumpers for the Bios move the jumper to reset it, but if you do not know how to do this then leave the jumper alone and just do it the battery way instead..

If you do not have spare working parts then it is real hard to pinpoint the hardware problem if it is hardware that is..

Hopefully it is software related and you can get it sorted..Follow the link i gave and do soem cleaning and scanning..

Good luck, let us know how you got on..
