man now that i am a junior in highschool and taking some college courses i am getting my ass kicked with homework. this is the first time i have really been able to get online for more than 20 mintutes. so now i can only really be online on the weekends, thanks to my homework extending past 11:30 most nights. (no, i don't have add, it is that much work). this sucks.

get it done... forget about the internet. .pretend it doesn't exist. I wish I could.

School is more important than anything right now. I wish I had spent more time focusing on school then so I wouldn't have to worry about it now..

    It could be worse.

You could working fulltime, going to school fulltime, taking care of a baby part time, and if you are lucky, finding time to sleep.

Yet, I am doing it with a smile on my face.

Did I mention I am designing and maintaining my wife's website as well?

@Star - you need to go post that in the "interesting website" section if you haven't already done so.

@eric06 -- Oh, man, you came to the wrong place looking for sympathy -- or empathy for that matter. "Back in my day" there wasn't the internet.
"Back in my day" there wasn't CD's and DVD's, Play Station, Instant Messaging, etc. and I still didn't feel like I had time to do all the fun things I wanted...Today -- everything is faster and better, but everyone has less time. Hmmmm...

You're young and as they say
"youth is wasted on the young".

Work hard, study harder, laugh and have fun each day. :) Worrying about what you could do, "wanna do", can't wait to do, wish you could do, won't do, will just make each day less wonderful!

Note: You may think you spend 20 minutes online, have you ever timed yourself? Bet it's longer than that.

i hear what you guys are saying but it is so hard to think of what your friends are doing over the weekend and how much fun you could be having with them, yet you have a huge project do you have to work on. it is hard but i am doing my best to make the grades. thanks for the advice. maybe i will see some of ya'll out in the tech field if i ever get out of high school and get my comp. science degree.

You'll hate a crappy job far more than you'll ever hate school.

That's a feeling most of us are familiar with, and it doesn't go away once you're out of school. It gets worse. :D Some of us are going to be working Monday, and grumbling about missing out with our friends too. Most of us get only 2 or 3 weeks of vacation per year, and frequently have to spend some of that fixing up the house, or car, or using it for family or other obligations that we'd really rather not do.

Where I work we're open all but six holidays a year. I normally work the day after Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, and New Years Eve. We have on-call emergency services all night long, and all the holidays that we're "shut down", and rotate the emergency duty in one week shifts. I had the duty Memorial Day weekend this year, and had it for the 4th of July last year. Emergency duty includes all day Saturday and Sunday too. I like what I do, but my (and most other) jobs have downsides to them too.

YOUR job right now is to prepare for what you'll be doing the rest of your life. And it sounds like you're doing it RIGHT. Good for you! Life ain't always fun, but it's always got to be dealt with. :)

Subtract the baby, add in designing lights for two college plays per semester and acting as master electrician for three professional plays per semester, and you have my college life.

47 hours per week at work. 14 credit hours per semester. Plus five shows, at two weeks per show at night.

I distinctly remember smiling, as well. :) And now I'm working in the field I chose. Neat, huh? :D

That happened in Danville, KY. I know what it's like down there, and it doesn't surprise me one bit.
