Well, I've thought it was rather long and a bit um, uh, long and uh, long and I thought it would have a way of tracking words so that you couldn't repeat a word in the thread or you'd be OUT. Now that would serve a point.

I don't hate Word Association threads...I just ignore them. What I do hate, however, are sites that have 842 "games" threads in their Lounge/Lobby/whatever. All of them spam, all of them pointless, all of them annoying, all of them more popular than anything else.

I think it has something to do with increasing post count, because apparently post count means something.

I'm just glad I don't work at more than one site, because if all sites have the rule where moderators have to read all threads to make sure they're within forum rules, I'd have fired a weapon directly into my head long before now reading all the word association and other game threads.

as for modding every thread.. I can tell you that pretty much every regular here is mature enough that we have to do very little moderation. This is probably the only site in my history of message board moderation that I have had to do next to nothing to moderate.
oh and..
I hate word association threads because they are pointless and take up space in the database that could be used for more quality spam..
