    Hi

My wife bought a new Samsung N130 netbook with Windows XP pre-installed.

I am running a desktop with W7 but prev ran XP with no issues. I have had wireless on my desktop for years without a single dropout! It is WPA2 secured

    Edimax wireless router

HOWEVER the netbook connects at first but drops out every now and again, when it does it cannot be reconnected without rebooting the netbook! It cannot acquire network address, can't repair itself and it so frustrating I updated the drivers for the wireless and still does it.

It is driving me nuts, she had to restart about 6 times in one night cause it kept happening!

    Any suggestions?

    Much appreciated THANKS :cry

The issue is most likely with your Edimax router being incompatible with the Wireless card in the new laptop. The only thing you can try is upgrading the firmware on the router and see if that makes a difference. Other than that, I'm not sure what else to recommend other than buying a new router altogether. If you buy a new router, I would recommend the brand Netgear.

    FIXED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It was SYGATE FIREWALL!!!! Who would have thought! Used it for years on millions of machines with XP and without a problem but it didn't like this one!
