I have 2 questions. I connect in bps (bytes per second) My cousin connects in kbs (kilo bytes per second). My aunt connects in mbs (megabytes per second).
How many bytes are in a kilo byte?
How many kilo bytes are in a mega byte?
How many mega bytes are in a giga byte?
And so on and so on?

NEXT is there a program that can help me set up a web page? I already have purchased the web space however I do not want to pay somebody to set it up for me and do the web design. Please Help........

    Question 1
    8 bits in a byt
    1024 bytes in a Kilobyte
    1024 Kilobytes in a megabyte
    1024 megabytes in a gigabyte
its goes on and on from tera to peta and furthure

Second Try Microsoft Front page < avaible with MS Office> or Dreamweave <avaible from macromedia's website> for web designing.

Personally i would rather use somthing like HomeSite, but thats just because i dont care too much for clever (or not so clever) XML and crap all over my pages :D

Why not download a HTML Templete, and work on that? That way you dont need a design and its reletivley easy to find and replace text!

    you can download templetes there.

Personally i dont use any WYSYWIG or fancy programs for building websites, just good ole Notepad :)

As Gold saif notepad is the way to go.
if you start usign server side scripting languages WYSIWYG programs tend to intefer in there own demented way. but for basic stuff they do well

Notepad is great for starting out. You can download it at http://www.notepad.org/ :D

For a slightly more featured text editor, try NoteTab Light at http://www.notetab.com/ntl.php . It's free and has gobs of options and settings. Search and Replace and Undo/Redo being best.

Of course, knowing nothing at all means Front Page might be your only choice. You need to know the syntax and codes to use a text editor for HTML, but that's the best way to do it overall.

imho, if you want a wysiwyg editor, don't use front page, use dreamweaver. front page adds too much extra code, way more than dreamweaver. that way, when you do learn html, you don't have to sift through all of unnecessary frontpage code to edit your page, you just have to sift through a little unnecessary dreamweaver code. if you want to do it right, however, go get a 'Learn HTML' book and write your page in notepad. they usually come with disks that have a couple of programs that you can use, as well as graphics and usually a copy of the book on the cd.

Hang on, the connection speed displayed may be the speed of your internet connection OR it maybe the modem speed to your computer. It might be that you are not comparing like with like here. It may also be that the connection speed is measured in bits-per-second rather than a byte (check the case of the B). There are 8 bits (binary digits) to a byte.

    A 56K modem connects at 56,000 bits/sec

Yes if you are willing to spend the time thats a much better idea...... there is a book i recomend which is rather good, has some really useful stuff in it, not all about HTML, there is some Javascript and even a little bit of Java itself (for applets) its called:

Introducing Web Design - Rob Young
    www.it-minds.com

    ISBN 0-130-28565-X

really neat book and not too expensive either i seem to remember
