I can't figure this out. Win7 home 32bit on the laptop that I am using right now just flat refuses to see the HP Laserjet P1006 printer. Up to a few weeks ago both printers worked. I have tested and swaped out the USB cable, Swapped out the printer (I have 2 of the same Laserjet printers) and uninstalled and reinstalled the printer drivers I also have a HP Photosmart plus B2009a-m connected via wifi. The Potosmart plus printer works fine on direct USB cable and via wifi. I do the bulk of my B/W printing on the Laserjet printer to save ink in the inkjet printer. Yes at one time both the laserjet printer and Photosmart inkjet printer where working just fine. The laserjet just needed a toner cartrige when I got them. I need some help figuring this problem.

    Hi Steve

Thats really weird as you have covered most of what I would have suggested as a fix, uninstall and reinstall and new cable, but al not worked, the next random option I can thing of as a out of the box thing is while you have changed cables and unsintalled/reinstalled is that the USB cable allocation is corrupt and I see this with USB sticks mainly but guess printers can be no different, to try is to open Device Manager and look down the list for Print Queues and USB Serial Bus Controllers and delete/uninstall anything linked to your printer (also in device manager click View > Show Hidden devices just in case a corrupt install is listed) , then try installing the software again.

I'm not clear on your setup. Do you have 3 printers: two HP Laserjet P1006 (based on your comment - "I have 2 of the same Laserjet printers"), and one HP Photosmart plus B2009a-m.

The two Laserjets connect by USB to your computer? Do you keep pulling out the USB plug and attaching one or the other of the printers?
