I have a resolution Problem now

Hey guys its me again, Had to install a new OS on that puter. Now I see what the kids was trying to fix. Can't change the screen res. and when you do it gets HUDGE. Now what do I do?

 

Have you gone into the control panel and then to display to change your settings?

Are your settings showing the proper monitor? I know that there is a list somewhere (of course I can't find it:cry ) that shows different types and let's you switch.

 

and of corce i cant find it either

 

Updated drivers for the video card or the onboard video should allow you to change resolutions. Also be sure to get updated chipset drivers.

 

I am trying to help 'cause you don't seem to be getting many responses...but my knowledge is limited. You could also try going back to display > settings >advanced > monitor > properties > troubleshoot under the general tab <OR> under the driver tab, try updating or rolling back the driver to see if that helps. I would do set a restore point before doing this though.

 

hmmmmmmmmm think it needs drivers but dont know how to get new ones

 

You will need to list the computer specs for us to help you find them. Download and install this on the computer you are working on

After installing got to the computer summary and get the type chipset, motherboard and video.
Also name and model of the computer if store bought

 

Ok I have done that now where do i find what you need?

 

Start Everest
should be an icon for computer summary
Click on it and let it search comp
Look for Motherboard type, chipset type, and display adapter and post them here

I am leaving in 35 minutes and will not be back online for at least 2 hours so if you do not hear from me right away I apologize but will get back to you as soon as possible. Hopefully musksnipe or someone else may step in and help they may need additional info or other solution but sounds like a driver issue.
Also please post make and model of the computer

 

No problem, and its a Dell 2400

 

Run Everest, click on the computer icon, then summary..first set of stats is for motherboard, the second group shows your video adapter

If its a Dimension 2400 you can get the drivers from the Dell site. Go Here and download and run it. Follow the prompts and reboot when it asks to.

were you able to install drivers that valhallis suggested?
I would also reinstall chipset drivers which if you are running winxp are here if not what is your OS (operating system)
