I recently installed… updated office 2007 pro… I pinned word & excel to the start menu… now the recently open programs list is showing it too... (See attached pic or view by this link) this isn’t a big issue just annoying…. I tried -Remove from this list- removes both the pinned & recent entries…. Tried clearing the list in classic view then bouncing back to vista view after restart…. Google wasn’t even any help…. So any help would be greatly appreciated… thanks, Kaughn

    Hi

Try right clicking the Start button and choose Properties, then click Customise and change the number of recient start menu items to 0 > Apply

Ok sorry, & thanks for tellin me.

Done- restarted. then changed it to 6- restarted. problem still exists.

I really don't want to get rid of recently used programs list altogether.

Anyone else having this problem? Does anyone have an idea on how to fix this?

I can't see the divider line between items pinned to the Start menu and items on the Recently Used list, but I believe you only have 3 items on the Recently Used list. So, more items could be on that list. How do you happen to only have 3?

Is this really abnormal behavior for Windows Vista? I really don't know, so I'll pose the question here.

    Hi Kaughn,

    go to the start button.
in the recent entries section, drag the word and excel icons to the desktop.
next, remove all 4 icons from the start menu.
from the desktop, drag the word and excel icons directly on top of the start button.
remove the 2 icons from the desktop.
