:(Im going to explain this best i can...lately, well the past few months my computer has been turning into CRAP!! i try each week to scan it for viruses and clean it but its still going uncontrollably DOWN HILL...

I will attempt to tell all the issues that are wrong with it.

It isnt easy to explain this but for some reason my UAC hasnt been working the way it should...sometimes it flat out just doesnt work! Like i will open a program and it will not manifest BUT when i open the "Task Manager" it shows the program is running in the background....I figured out that if i manually click the program icons and "Run as Administrator" then it will manifest and run normally, or if i go into the program properties and check "Run as Administrator" then it will run...this is real annoying and comes with another issue...some programs do this but DONT have an option to "Run as Administrator" such as built in programs like TXT documents, some folders, my desktop gadgets... I hope i explained this well enough i am not very good at explaining...

Anyway i hope someone can help with this..:(

on top of all THAT fun stuff there is MORE!

before i did anything i did the Major Geeks "Read and Run" guide..i tried to follow it exactly...One of the steps was to disable UAC, i did this and rebooted like i was told but as i explained in the first half of all this...programs WOULD NOT MANIFEST! but they ran in the background only this time not even "Run as Administrator" would manifest programs but still ran them in the background!

To make things even worse I ran the program that was given in the "read and run" guide called MGtools and rebooted my comp....NONE of my start up programs would load accept two!...I checked "msconfig" and everything was normal! :cry WHY DOO I HAVE SUCH BAD LUCK!!! I tried to keep my computer as healthy as i could

AND i have a freaking bot somewhere on my computer from a place called Botnet... I came on my computer today and RUBotted had 8 pages FULL of detections from Botnet and at the time my computer was going SUUUPER so im guessing it wasnt lieing....

anyway i know this is a lot and i probably explained it in the most dumbest way possible but if someone can help me please try....i have a lot going on right now last thing i need is my beloved computer to die on me :cry:cry

and one more thing...awhile back i was STUPIDLY playing with the date and time on my computer, i set the date WAAAY forward, then i set it WAAAY backwards and forgot to change it back...the next day i couldnt connect to the internet or do just about anything until i realized it was the date....could that of effected my system to this extent?

anyway thanks if you can help :(

I tried to open my computers properties to give you guys some more info on my OS but that isnt manifesting either...ill give you what i know

Caliban I don't need no steenkin' title!

    Greetings, Sunflowowa.

Even though you said you've done it, I'd suggest again going through the steps of the Read and Run Me First as best you can: follow all of the directions to the letter, start a new thread there, and post your logs - from the logs, the Malware people will be able to tell if something's going on in the background.

Once that's done, report back here, and we'll try to get you fixed up! :major

    Hello Caliban!

thank you for the reply, I did like you said and re-did the "Read and Run" suggestion. I also ran Trend Micro's House Call, it found a Trojan and removed it.

RootRepeal kept showing errors when i tried to run it so I had to skip that.

    here are the scan logs

    Thanks again.

Hey guys, im sorry for this late reply i have been out of town....

Grudgingly....ive gotten rid of MSN Plus....I was hoping to skip that one step but i guess i cant...I really just hope its worth it...

I no longer have a virus, the trojan is gone my computer is 100% virus, spyware and malware clean...but something is wrong with my computer still...I dont get what it can be....I still have to open everything by right click and "run as administrator" or it doesnt manifest...And if i disable UAC the problem gets worse! I even attempted to format my computer once before and same thing....

This is a big problem for me because some programs dont have "Run as administrator"....and now some startup programs arent loading no matter what i do...they wont load....It stopped loading startup programs after running "MGtools"...

this is really starting to get to me because ive always tried really hard to take care of my computer because im poor and dont have the money for a new one...My computer is probably getting ready to crash...

anyway i noticed that my attachments for MGtools log is missing from my last post, ill get that up now....I'll show RootRepeal too even though it didnt load...

Sorry to be such a hassle everyone...thanks once again for being patient with me on this... :(

You did not attach the MGLog.zip. It would be located at C:\MGLogs.zip.

If you right click one of your program icons on the desktop, click on properties and in the shortcut tab, if you click on Find Target, does it take you to the program exe file?

Yes it took me to the target .exe file

You have 4 AV programs installed!! You need to choose one and uninstall the other three. I would suggest that you keep avast! Free Antivirus :
    You also need to uninstall:
    Messenger Plus! Live!!

    Then run CCleaner.

What issues are you having now?

LOL i know i once did, I corrected this problem after reading it on the "Read and Run" those are no longer active they got demoted to scanners only.

what i use now are only the following:
    NOD32
    Microsoft Security Essentials

Im not sure if having both NOD32 and Microsoft Security Essentials at the same time is bad but I did a lot of reading on it and people say pretty good things about them

NOD32 is an antivirus and MSE is an antimalware

Also there is one other thing that didnt show up and i still have it going because im not sure what category it falls under, its called: WinPatrol

I had all the antiviruses because awhile back a hacker messed with me real bad.. he kept somehow sending messages to my screen, taunting me and opening files. This was with an really really old computer i had...I didnt want to be a victim again like that so i made my computer into Fort Knox :major

Anyway...Im not 100% sure yet but after getting rid of my beloved MSN Plus my computer hasnt had as many issues and I think im able to open files that I couldnt before! :highfive

MSE is also an antivirus application also. Pick only one and completely uninstall all the rest, not just 'demote' them. In this case, more is not better.

Ok i got rid of MSE and NOD32 now all i have is Avast. Everything appears to be running smooth now! :dancer

Thank you all for sticking with me through all this, i dont know how i can repay you! im very grateful to you all!!

One more question though, is WinPatrol okay to keep or should i get rid of that too? its been pretty useful to me

I run Winpatrol on a bank of computers, XP, Vista, and Win 7, along with AVG.

Been doing so for about 6 months now, no problems with anything, except for one minor glitch which was associated with a bad update recently.

I also use it on my home computer, kinda like that dog Scotty!

WinPatrol is kind of a "doorman" that watches what comes in.
Sort of like SpywareBlaster. (another very good program.)
