    My problem is that my computer and my cd-rw. I thought it was a driver problem because my cdrw was not listed on "my computer", I checked the device manager and it is listed, but with an exclamation point. I tried installing a new driver and got the message "Windows successfully loaded the device driver for this hardware but cannot find the hardware device. (Code 41)". The device is a artec wsm-52x, I also check the bios and it is listed there. I tried detaching and reattaching (wires are in properly) and it and when I startup my computer says found new hardware. I bought a new IDE cable and the same outcome, I bought a new cdrw and still nothing. So its not a driver problem I think, but I have no idea what to do next.

    :confused:

    This happens when Windows does not detect a non-Plug and Play device.

    If the device was removed, uninstall the driver, install the device, and then click Scan for hardware changes to reinstall the driver. If the hardware was not removed, obtain a new or updated driver for the device.

    If the device is a non-Plug and Play device, a newer version of the driver might be needed. To install non-Plug and Play devices, use the Add Hardware wizard. Click Performance and Maintenance on Control Panel, click System, and on the Hardware tab, click Add Hardware Wizard.

    On the General Properties tab of the device, click Troubleshoot to start the troubleshooting wizard.

    If the above does NOT work. Then procede on.

    1. Click Start > Run

    2. In the Open box, type regedit, and then click OK.

    3. Locate and then click the following registry subkey:

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/System/CurrentControlSet/Control/Class/{4d36e965-e325-11ce-bfc1-08002be10318}

    4. On the File menu, click Export.

    5. In the File name box, type savedkey, and then click Save.

    6. Click the REG_MULTI_SZ data type UpperFilters, and then click Delete on the Edit menu. When you are prompted to confirm the deletion, click Yes.

    7. Click the REG_MULTI_SZ data type LowerFilters, and then click Delete on the Edit menu. When you are prompted to confirm the deletion, click Yes.

    8. Quit Registry Editor, and then restart the computer.

    Have you had iTunes installed before?

    I have recieved several reports that iTunes causes problems with CD-R/RW drives. The reports I recieved was after the uninstall of iTunes CD-ROMs did not work anymore, same code code 41 message.

    When did the problem first occur? Were there any changes in any software/hardware as in new or removed?
