okay so my sound just stopped working one day i go and cut it on.

( little sister was on my comp. last)

i checked the volume advanced settings and nothing is muted,as well as device manager and everything looks okay.

music looks like its playing okay but just no sound period.
not even then start up sound for windows.
    fyi. the speakers do work.

I have a compaq 5bwm2a,windows xp,with on board sound which is ESS Allegro PCI Audio (WDM)..

i have tried uninstalling and reinstalling driver as well, the only sound i do get is when i hit F5 or F10 repeatedaly to enter safe mode or bios(which doesnt have an opition to disable on board sound ,just pci bus mastering) i will hear a short beep(once).
    ....

Is the Windows Audio service running?
    Go to Control Panel>Administrative Tools>Services
Scroll down the list of services until you find Windows Audio
Open up Windows Audio by double clicking
Make sure it is running, if not, click on Start.

Go into the Device Manager and click on all audio devices (except for Codecs and Legacy drivers) and press delete on the keyboard, then shut down and re-start your PC.
    If that doesn't help.....

@ WhisiwasAwhiz HP says your on-board sound is this: Creative Labs Audio Driver

You need to start your own thread and give us some info about your PC.

LOL I'm NOT trying to be rude or anything, but make sure your speakers are plugged in! I just went thru this with musksnipe, we couldn't figure out why I had no sound. I had the wrong plug plugged in! Hopefully this is all it is!

@ gw00 Not to be rude, but follow my directions.
You won't get any help with "It's broke, what do I do?"

This is the third time in this thread these directions have been posted

You need to start your own thread and give us some info about your PC.

As already suggested in this thread by musksnipe, you need to start your own thread. Hijacking another's persons thread is not acceptable in these forums. Once you start your own thread, you will recieve further advice on how to resolve your issue.

    Thank you.
