Well this is not my puter. It is my sons. What we have here is a Dell that has no sound. O.S. is win2000, When we go to play a sound it gives us an error message like this. There is a problem with your sound device.and I checked and there is no sound device installed and when we do the puter tells us it wants the disk for the systm but we don't have it, What do we do now?

Going via the motherboard model 00T606 I woudl imagine if you looked on th ecase the Dell model version is an Optiplex GX260?

If it is then these are the specific drivers for that model Dell from Dell ( as sometimes generic drivers from the maker of the audio chips, dont filly work, why you ask.. well Dell and other OEMs custom spec various parts from the manufacturer and thus also alter the drivers as well ) http://support.dell.com/support/dow...=gen&SystemID=PLX_PNT_P4_GX260&os=WNT5&osl=EN

If its not a GX260 then look on the case for a model name, number and post back, then we can direct you to the Dell drivers.

No probs sabrenx, many times their is no right or wrong answer as a few options can work, we just have to try best options when not infront of the PC in question.

Glad for the help on the forum :)
