I have no sound!

I have recently upgraded my computer from win 98 to windows 2000 but the drivers for my pci multimedia audio are gone they are not on the disk and I cannot find them anywhere on the web. I have a hp pavilion 8665 and the card says that it is a audio riser. If any one can help I would appreciate it I have been to the hp site many times with no prevale

From what i have found that driver was for windows 98 and me, HP removed all 98 and Me support in July of this year, Sorry. You should consider buying a different card that is up to date. ed

 

Have you tried using an external driver website such as www.driverguide.com or similar?

 

mcadam, I did spend a fair amount of time searching for that driver, couldnt find it even on the driver sites. ed

Gotta know where to look.

Offical HP specs say the motherboard has the VIA Apollo Pro133 chipset, which has onboard audio.

The VIA Apollo Pro133 chipset consists of two chips:

VT82C693A and VT82C686A.

So we head over to the VIA website, and find onboard audio drivers for VT82C686A.

This leads up to a link of:

All thats left to see is how well it works for the HP, as its a reference driver.

Also shes not looking for win98 or me drivers, but states "recently upgraded my computer from win 98 to windows 2000". Might be a bit more careful when reading posts. Thanks.
