I have a windows 7 ultimate that I can not access the Internet. I was working fine and out of the blue now I getting a restricted content error. My data packets seamed to be working fine, I'm getting very good data flow/streams.

This computer is hooked direct to a Lynkus Wireless router. I have 3 other computers working off this router with no problems.

I have tried 3 browsers with the same effect.
I have checked browsers content settings (lowest level).

I'm stuck, I need help, this is/was my main computer. My Internet work is on this computer.

Anyone has a direction for me to go in or better yet a solution, please respond.

    Thank you.

It would help to see your IP config.

    Hi

To gain an IP readout, enter CMD (command prompt) and type ipconfig /all then copy and paste the text (to copy and paste from CMD, once the text appears right click in the window and pick Select All, then paste into Notepad) to a notepad file and save then attach to your next post as per HOW TO: Attach Items To Your Post[/quote]

Can you connect if you plug directly into the modem?

    No,

I turned everything off and direct connected to the modem.

I doubled checked to make sure my webroot protection (firewall) was turned off also

    Thank you...

Choose one of the computers that does connect and do an IP config /all on that one. Let's see how that is configured. I am thinking your ip address may be the problem.

Yes TimW is on the right track. You have limited connectivity because you are not getting a proper IP address for your network. This 169.x.x.x address is not what you should have. You are setup for DHCP, but you are not getting an address assigned to you. Sometimes you just need to power cycle your router or modem to fix this.

If the power cycle does not help, you may be able to work around this temporarily ( until you debug the root problem ) by setting up a static address in the range of your network. One example: 192.168.1.250 should work as long as nothing else is using that address.

I'm curious what the other computers show for ipconfig as well but isn't restricted content error in Windows7 a parental control warning? That would explain why all the browsers are blocking too.

Do you get this message for every site? I would think something like sprout.com, meant for preschoolers, would still work. I think it can also be set for time ranges so that might not be an effective test. Can you check the parental settings?

I was looking through what gives that message in Windows 7. It seems most parental controls would say parental control at the top of the warning box in windows7.

Can you tell us what site you are accessing when this message comes up? Does it appear for any and every site?

Doesn't matter where I try to go to I get server not found...

I can login to the router on that computer.

I'm mainly a firefox users so I tried using Internet Explorer, I can't access anything but it asks me to trouble shoot the problem so I try that and I get an error doing that:

    Package ID: NetworkDiagnostics
    Path: C:/Windows/diagnostics/system/networking
    Error Code: 0x80070522
    Source: Engine
    User: MAIN/Valued Customer
    Context: Restricted

    Again Thank you.
    TT

I was curious about IP #'s so I typed in my webservers IP # and I can access it via that way. So I can access via IP# but not via domain names.......

TimW pointed right to the problem, your IP is not in the correct range for your network. He would know better how that happens.

At the command prompt can you try the commands one at a time (enter command and enter, then the next and enter)
    ipconfig /release
    ipconfig /renew

run ipconfig /all again and look for the line
    Autoconfiguration IPv4 Address. . :

to now say something in the range 192.168.1.XX

If it doesn't go to the range, there are other things to try.

I tried it a couple of times with no luck

Chaslang suggested that you also cycle the power on the router and the modem.

If you can do that once, then after they come back up, if you would release and renew the IP once. Run the command ipconfig /all and let us see what it says.

The work around is fairly easy like chaslang said, we can walk you through putting in an IP number that stays in (static). One last try to make the autoconfiguration work, if not, we can try a number.
