I have screwed my MBR

At least that is what I think has happened.

I have 2 hard drives. When I got my laptop ( HP Pavilion dv9700 ) the first hard drive was partitioned into two. The first partition had Vista on it and the second one had a HP recovery of that vista install. It could be accessed by pressing F11 when starting the computer.

Then I installed Windows 7 on the other hard drive (before that I had recovered my windows vista 2 or 3 times)

Now I made another partition on my first hard drive (the vista and hp recovery one) because I need my 10-band equalizer settings (that Realtek does not have for Vista, only some crappy presets)

I made the partition, but because XP will not recognize Vista (or Win7) and I don't have a Vista dvd I decided to use the HP recovery to repair it and make it so that they recognize themselves. (I didn't install XP yet because I wanted to make sure that doing it through HP recovery was even possible)

When I'm booting up I am tapping F11, it only makes a hardware beep and then I go to the Vista/Win7 boot selection. How can I fix this? It would be great if I could get it back to F11 or even for a triple boot (If that will work)

Oh, dear. If this is about BIOS settings I shouldn't say anything. Not quite my turf. But surely we have some majorgeeksters inhere who have a suggestion? :cool

 

If you've screwed your MBR that Microsoft Article should fix it .... if its BIOS just set it to default settings
