I am running Windows XP and I really feel there is too much installed. I am working from home using my computer for Customer Service. I have a list of the programs installed in my computer and would love some help to remove some of it. I would also like to know how to stop some running processes. :confused

looking through your list this is a list of add and remove programs you have less on your computer than i have on mine and i only have a 40 gig hard drive.
i did notice that you still have live update there this program is associated with nortons internet security and is safe to remove since you don't have there product on your computer,
also it would be at your best interest to update your java to the lastest version you can download it from here " http://majorgeeks.com/Sun_Java_Runtime_Environment_d4648.html'
" be sure to uninstall the old version first.also run ccleaner and scan the registry before you install the new version.
hope this helps you good luck.

Personally, I get rid of any and all toolbars, they just clutter up my screen.

Beyond that, you don't really have that many programs, compared to most 'puters I look at.

Are you having any issues? How long to a full boot? How much memory do you have installed?

Also, if you are not using Norton, be sure to run the Norton uninstall tool found close to the bottom of the "Top Freeware Picks" page. Over 75% of the machines I work on have remnants of Norton still on them, even when not in use. Sometimes this will cause problems.

    Hi

I dont think you have too much installed at all however you do have some areas that need cleaning up and the main one is you have a left over component of Norton as mentioned, then you need to cleanup the reminent of Norton and use this Cleanup Tool

But the rest I feel would be ok in a support area, the imaging apps like Paintshop Pro would help if you need to produce screenshot images for support purposes.

Yahoo and Google Toolbar I agree with BrandyPeppy and is useless addon for any PC.

Two browsers as in IE and Google Chrome are ok as if you haev issue with one of them at least you have a backup.

Amazon MP3 Downloader 1.0.5 can go if your just using this PC for support.

But all in all your installed applications are slim compaired to my listing, TBH you have nothing pressing to remove, but would take care when dealing with the Services list and what you disable or set to manual as many maybe crucial to your PC setup (not all PCs can run with the likes of the suggestions from BlackViper) as a specific Service may have a knock on Dependancy with another Service, so if you are going down the Services route then change one Service at a time and make a note of what ones you change and what changes you make to them incase it causes an application or Service to fail.
