I hope this is the right place to ask this question/ screen freezing

OK, I'm a total n00b when it comes to computers, all I ever use them for is going on the internet/email/facebook/forums.

the acer aspire (microsoft 6.0) I'm using always "freezes" its my friends pc so I can't really tweak it to much.

I've tried crap cleaner helps a little and just got "smart defraq" from here.
any ideas what I can do to make it stop?

I've had to simply unplug it and start over again, a bunch of times but the pc sounds downright scary afterward ( really noisy)

It could be a cooling issue, if it has to much dust build up inside it will become very unstable.
Try using temperature monitoring software with it and see how hot the CPU is running.
That noise you mention could be a failing fan.

 

Welcome to the forum,can you post the model of your acer aspire,I'm not sure what you mean by microsoft 6.0,that could mean internet explorer 6.0,visual basic 6.0 or most likely windows 6.0 known as windows vista so find out which one and add to your next post.

Post whether its just your internet window that's freezing or the whole computer,the former is usually a software problem and latter along with a noisy computer can often be a hardware problem most likely overheating EDIT which voodoo has pointed out.

 

Microsoft 6.0 is a Operating System. I'm running 6.0 Service Pack 2 Build 6002. (WINDOWS VISTA!!!)

 

I thought aspire was the model, windows vista, everything freezes, cant even use ctrl alt delete. I hate unplugging. I just did spybot search & destroy, malwarebytes both said nothing wrong, crap cleaner didn't help. :cry
