I installed java on a USB stick, lost key, nothing works now

hey guys

I installed Java on a USB stick so I could code on the go. well now I lost my USB stick and nothing works. I reinstalled JRE, JDK, still nothing. I uninstalled, reinstalled, 64bit and 32 bit and still nothing. it still looks for it on the USB driver letter.

I was wondering if one of you could knew if we could point java using programs to look in another directory, either through registry or whatever.

 

if you have uninstalled java,run javara first ,then usb scrubber (uncheck the nexcopy option)try to reinstall java again

When you run regedit and go to this key.

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\JavaSoft\Java Runtime Environment\1.6.0_26

What is the value of JavaHome? Default is C:\Program Files\Java\jre6

Value of RuntimeLib should be C:\Program Files\Java\jre6\bin\client\jvm.dll

Also look under
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\JavaSoft\Java Web Start

There is a value name of Home with a default value of C:\Program Files\Java\jre6\bin

You probably have other keys relating to JDK

nevermind, I fixed it by finding any instance of "jre" in all registries and replacing the prefix with the correct drive letter or simply deleting the registry
