I Just got this message The Main Bios is corrupted on my Gigabyte Technology Co. Ltd. 970A-DS3P.

Any ideas on what caused this.

This is the first time i have ever seen this type of message.I hope the mother board is not going bad. After i just replaced my old MSI board with this one.

Did you flash the bios at all after you installed the system, or is it the default version that came with the board?
Sometimes this issue arises after users have flashed through Windows itself, rather than the correct way from USB.

Any overclocking done on the CPU?

No bios flashing and it would not even allow over clocking.Version is 2.1 bios.It just randomly rebooted for no reason.

I did a virus scan and nothing really apparent.

mmmm…..did the update on the main bios complete satisfactorily? (from your pic above).

If so, has it occurred again after this, or does it seem to be a 'once off' issue?

If its occurred again and seems to be repetitious, maybe a correct flash with an updated version may resolve the issue?

I took a peek at your logs and the only thing I could see which may be interfering with start-up is 'ShowMyGames' found by RougeKiller.
Im no expert though and will leave that to TimW on advice with what to do with it.

Enabling UAC again wouldn't be a bad idea also.

    Good Luck ;)

No has not happened since then...But i do recall when flash player updated it happened right after that.So i disabled flash player updates. And i checked and saw no BOSD errors. Can't figure out the issue hope fully it was just a one time thing.I plan on building a newer system this year.

FYI that picture i found is off a bunch of image searchs. But that is the error i got.

Yes it has updated it self correctly as far as i can tell. This is one strange error if i ever seen one.I mean i know other's have run into this problem. From Gigabyte mother boards. But i have had 5 previous mother boards and have never run into this issue like this.It seems some things did correct them self's after it updated it self correctly.I guess this is one of them things that are a mystery that will not be solved.

It seemed to happened after driver booster downloaded flash player update.I am not sure if it was a flash player bug that caused that kinda crash. But it could have been that issue.I may never know.

It could have been all so an issue with updating my cpu from a quad core with an 8 core FX 8350.

Computer are like wife's can't live with them and can't live with out them.

All good then it sounds...….It is an unusual error that's for sure!
I run 3 desktop systems all with Gigabyte boards, I love em but I have not come across this one yet?

Good job they run dual-bios as when one fails the other kicks in!
If not for that the system would not have booted at all me thinks.

Thanks for the update on this issue Wile :)

If you get other instances of bios corruption, then a clear possibility could be that it is related to your cpu.

You are running an FX 8350 which due to its TDW rating can cause issues over time with this board. Several users of this board + cpu have reported that this combination can lead to problems due to the 4+1 VRM.

As Replicator said "good job they run a dual-bios" and a lot easier than getting a replacement bios chip which is a chore.

    Good Luck

New EEPROM should be maybe 25USD from the vendor, unless times have changed a lot...

In all honesty it's probably just cheaper to replace the mother board.Which i might end up doing.

That board is still available if that is your intention.

I built a system about 8 months ago with this identical Gigabyte board, version 2.1 / bios FD [which is seemingly the last one].

I run the FX6300 cpu which is marginally slower, much lower TDW, runs much cooler and seemingly has none of the reported side effects of the FX8350.

This is a low end board which can still be used for gaming. It has worked flawlessly in my system but I have taken many precautions one of which is to replaced the stock and quite useless NB heatsink since the 970 chipset does run hot and can potentially cause instability (especially with an FX8350).

    Good Luck
