I keep getting kicked.

Every time I go to play cs source I lag really bad and shortly after I get dissconnected from the internet. I am on earthlink dialup do to the fact that there is nothing else avalible. I was wondering though what tweaks I might be able to try to see if I can fix the problem. My pings have not been the greatist in the past in other games, could it be my modem its kinda cheap. I was going to get the US robotics one but keep holding out for some form of broadband but Im about to break down and get one If I cant clear this problem up with some sort of tweaking. Thank you for any help you can provide.

 

Do you only get kicked when you play CS?

If not then it is your ISP since it is 56k getting kicked is common.

 

Im about to try halo but I would get dissconnected from servers on it very often when I played on it, but not off the internet its self.

 

I am sorry but as long as you are on 56K, you are SOL on improving the performance or playing high graphic games such as CS. No tweaking would help and disconnections are bound to happen....
No satellite service either? I'd wait for DSL or cable service to arrive...

 

I could get satalite, but I heard that though the download and upload speeds are faster there is a delay do to how far it has to travel, creating pings as bad or worse than 56k.

 

Well if you are only getting kicked off when you are gaming and not surfing the net...

Did you ever think it was an admin kicking you for high ping and lagging his server?

I thought that at first and im sure it happens but There were several old halo servers that I would be pinging fine from and just get dissconnected, and there was no admins playing. But I still wonder why It would kick me all the way off the net, to where I have to sign on again. Its only games to though I have had trouble with transfering files with IMs.

 

ahhhh then you are getting kicked for having a high ping
Most servers are set to kick someone if their ping is high and it is ussually set at about ping >= 150
There are a few 56k only servers out there so try finding those
