Well, here I am on the first morning of having internet at home again.... god I love this feeling. I got up and surfed around with my first cup of coffee... and my second and third...

I never realized how much I missed being able to sit here and get my morning fill of info. Not just news and gossip, but the overall ability to look up anything that hits me as needed to know.

Of course, MG is one of my first stops.. LOL

Hope everyone has a great day!!! (OK, so it is 11am here as I am typing this, ut I also did 2 loads of laundry and burned a few things to DVD before I started this post :))

Hey, good for you guy, know what you mean coffee and computer along with breathing treatments, which take forever if not having a screen in my face. I can only take so much news in the am.
Anyway good to have you back! :wave

I'm addicted too. Usually I am on the Net (and Major Geeks, of course) :major from around 4.30am OZ time to around 7am (Oz time) then I log off for the day. Daylight savings time ends in OZ tomorrow morning (Sunday) so I get an extra hour on my off peak time allowance. Even better. Bazza

Yeah yeah, rub your broadband in everyone's face. You broadbanders think you're so cool, jamming up the internet with your YouTubes, and your flash. :p

LOL... I don't try to hog up the internet, but I have been to the end of it.... heheheh.. bonus points if you know whose ad that is from.

The nice thing about it is that even if FiOs is a little faster, my TW connection allows me to do what I enjoy and upload all sorts of photos and gfx type stuff when I am done working on them. Actually thinking about starting a small graphics/printing business to supplement my income :)

Of course I'm jealous. He's got broadband and I'm stuck in a third world country, where you have to live in the big city or they don't think you exist.

I remember when I first got to play with broadband. The day we got hooked up, I tried downloading InaGadaDavida by Iron Butterfly... the 18minute version, over dial up and it gave me an estimated time of over 18hours. LAter that day, we clicked into roadrunner and then I tried again and had it in less than 5 minutes :)

For a long time tho, my dad would not give up his dial up service, let me tell you, when In eeded to download something over there it was a freakin nightmare. But now, it is almost easier to be on broadband, I get internet, phone and digital cable for $99 a month (helps to be an irate customer who threatens to go to Verizon FiOs to get good deals).

Last weekend, I was chatting with a breeder (working the dog show) who was canadian and was telling me how they can't even get cable where she is at and they are stuck with dial up at best unless they want to pay almost $200 Canadian/month for sattelite internet.

such is life I suppose, but honestly, I figure that if I am going to move somewhere, I would probably make sure that I could get broadband there before I signed the deal :)

lol, I had inagodadavida as a ring tone til I found out it was costing me monthly.
Our first computer was a laptop, didn't figure we had room for anything else living in a 5th wheel. Anyway we asked about DSL (is what it was called then) and was told it wasn't available. Here we were in Scotts Valley, up the hill from Silicon Valley, next door to Seagate Corp. (one of their many buildings) one of the biggest computer giants and had to settle for dial up.
Thats when Napster was thee music place. I was downloading something that was going to take 15 hours from someone in Mexico who offered to leave their computer on all night so I could finish. How nice was that? Anyway I declined and it picked up the partial finished download from another person who had it.
It wasn't long before they discovered DSL was available being some transformer or something was across the street.
Wow, I did go on there huh? LOL Coffee

I waited an extra 2 years before I got Broadband from a company that doesn't rip me off (maybe a little :)). I refused to join Bigpond (Australia's biggest provider) as their plans suck. In that 2 years was 10 months waiting for RawNet to get up and running. They went broke before they could set up in my home town. 10 months wasted. :cry

Now I'm with spin.net.au and I'm happy. Still think the speeds could be better but it could be they are routed through Optus (Australia's 2nd biggest provider, I think) and I am a long way from the downloader I use (Internode) although Internode may be setting up in Cairns (or could be here already).

Sometimes my downloads, up to 5 megs are almost instantaneous. I occasionally have to check my C:\Downloads Folder to make sure they are there. :cool

PS: thumbnail attached. Those programs listed without a speed were almost instantaneous. Others up to +500KB/s

Nice speeds bazza.... *sigh* one of these days I am gonna get to the Down Undah and have me a nice long walkabout.... seriously. That is on my list of things to do before I kick the big one.

Of course, by then, we will likely have palm units that are connected worldwide and instead of a monitor, it will be beamed right to our visual cortex and all... LOL

Or maybe catch one of those special planes that park in the atmosphere while the earth revolves under you and you can get from OZ to UK in 2 hours, or from USA to OZ in the same time. I should live so long. :D Bazza

It's a ten month wait for the only available wireless service that covers my area. Others are coming, but it's taking forever.
