    Hey Guys,

Well, it's happening again, on the 5th October I`ll be going offline again, sadly

Bills Bills & more bills basically, as most already know we had a child recently and basically everything has been the best, but last week we both got cut $334.20 Per fortnight combined! now before this we were just surviving, we wern't doing it 'hard', but just head above water, now that we loose this per fortnight combined, I have to kiss my Internet, home phone goodbye to begin with, ofcourse this doesn't account for that amount, but every cent saved is going to help pay the essential bills.

Kylie wants to go back to work (Childcare), I am begging her not to though, she doesn't really want to, but wants to, to help the family, she had a child before we met, and 2 months later she was back at work, this time she ain't doing that! Even is she did go back to work, she will be working full days, but only earning a $212 est diffrence to what her income is now, so 5 day a week, for that after 10 days, is a bit pathetic!

Anyway, enough of airing my dirty laundry online, I wanted to let you guys know though, you`ve all been really good to me and all, so it's the least I can do, until then however, I`m gonna enjoy my online time! :D

One day I`ll be back, hopefully its not another 2+ years, and I hope you guys are still all here!

    Cheers,

    Dave

I was going to say a lot, but now it all sounds so 'trivial' I've decided to just say THIS:
Chin up...hang tight...be on the lookout for a better paying job.
I've been where you are now and I know it's hard. Don't give up or give in.
    See you soon, brother Geek!
    :)

A man's gotta do what a man's gotta do. Number one is to look after the cheese'n'kisses and the billy lids. All else comes second.

Having said that, you don't have a caring sharing neighbour with a good wireless router and broadband service do you? ;)

    Good luck.

There must be a better solution dude.......
I know how you must feel at the prospect of losing your bandwidth connection.
If its work that you seek.....I still have some good connections in the NT.
Im not sure of your quals or experience, but i would be glad to help with some names and phone numbers(and a good word) if thats what you require?

Thanks Toni, Kodo, Tim & Mullet,

I`m going to try and get back on as soon as I can, but like you say, family must come first, and that's the way I prefer it, although I`ve gotten a bit attached to you geeks! I am on here religiously, I think I am going to feel a bit out of sorts for the first couple of days offline, sad to say it, even worse to admit it, hehe :D

ahh well no regrets, I`ll try and get to a Net Cafe` or something in town every now and then, I`ll have to keep you all updated on things! I am not getting rid of the computer, just the services that are racking up costs, until we get something sorted out to get ourselves into a better position, I`ve put a lot of work into this aluminum bucket, it's a geek in itself, my windows should be GeekXP! :D

Which reminds me, when I do get back, hopefully I`ll have a credit card this time around to get myself some geekwear, I like that slack jawed mofo :D

Will have a final goodbye before Midnight on the fifth, already organised the disconnection for that date/time, until then, lets P.A.R.T.Y :D

From looking at your profile, not sure where ya live….here in California, a geek can go to the local library, and surf the net for an hour at a time………the last time that bills over came me, and my family, we did just that…..and there are some free programs, like “netzero” used to have a free 10 hours, but their add load first….take a look while you can….wobbles

Yeah, family does come first, but it is handy to have an outlet or two to unwind with. Well. you'll still have your 'puter, and as said, we'll be around. Better times, financially, are ahead, I'm sure.

Take care, Dave. Hope to hear from you soon.:)

Sorry to hear that! I hope you can sort it out, and that you won't be absent for long! :)

I agree with what Phantom says, you need one outlet to wind down on, or life will become colourless. Sit down think of one thing that you would rather keep than anything else, and the loss of the other things in life won't seem as harsh. At least they didn't to me when I had to make those choices a while ago! :)

  16. G.T.

    G.T. R.I.P February 4, 2007. You will be missed.

We're going to miss you around here Luthius. But when things get tight, the non-essentials have to go first. Hopefully you can still drop in via local library, or even a friend's computer. Just remember to log OUT at the end of each session so your personal logging info isn't left on those computers.

Tough decisions. It sounds like you guys are living on government support, welfare, or whatever they call it in Australia, which is always "just barely enough" to get by. Ultimately, you'll do better financially by working, although at first it may not be much better than what welfare provides. Time, seniority, experience, study, all have a tendency to provide better income as you go and grow. But the flip side of working is that it truly IS good to have a parent home actually raising the kids, particularly in the early years before school. I don't know about Australia's policies, but here in the States, they basically penalize having one parent working, which discourages working. And some places here, and likely there too, don't have enough work for everybody. I've got a friend in Arizona that's been looking diligently for several months, and hasn't found a steady job yet.

When my son was born, back in 1980, my wife wanted to stay home and be a full-time mom, which I supported. But like you, I quickly found that what had been "enough" for two people, didn't stretch far enough to cover 3, and I ended up taking a second job so mom could stay home with the baby. Was difficult, but I don't regret it.

However you work out your own problems, I wish you the best, and hope you get on top of them quickly. Life isn't always fun, but it's the only game in town. Give it your best, and enjoy it regardless of what it throws your way. Love and family can be a joy, even in the tough times.

Luthius your posts and topics were brilliant, full of information that I've taken in (a lot from hardware forum!) and some entertaining threads here in the lounge.

Will be sorry to see you leave, but - it's not permanent! (isit??!! - hopefully it's not!)

Wish you and your family the very best for the future and hope to see you around soon!

Sorry this is short, but I like to get to the point iminently!

Thanks guys, I`m gonna miss you`all too! like I said, I`m going to feel inadequate the first few days, my homepage is forum.majorgeeks.com, :D

@G.T: We were working, but of course things changed closer to the birth, Kylie quit work for a year, well its been only 3 months now, but I am also on a DSP, without going into the core identity of it, I was "forced" onto a pension as a condition, basically if I didn't accept the pension, I wouldn't be writing this very message, life would be different, I probably wouldn't even have a gorgeous baby right now! :( I actually don't even want to think about that anymore, it's behind me! :)

But we will sort it, the first thing I am going to do is log in and greet you all when I return! :)

Sorry things are so tough right now Luthius. Been there too, and had to watch every cent in the past. Life has a way of helping you get sorted out.

I shall miss you. You have been a joy to get to know and I hope you shall be returning real quick so we can enjoy more fun times and crazy postings together. Best wishes to you, Kylie and the family.

PS: You MUST let us know what middle name you guys decided on for Jonas before you take time out....or did I just miss that annoucement during my crazy week?

    *Hugs*

    Hi Lev,

We are deciding on the name today, just between you and me though, I think kylie is adamant for Isaiah, Jonas Isaiah Giles... I might as well call him a squid JIG :D

I think it will be a while before we get back on our feet, the upsetting part about the whole situation is, we just got above water, now this!

Also I signed a contract with both my phone telco and ISP, which I`m going to be breaking, so I am going to brace myself for that! I explained my situation to my Telco, but they cannot waver any fee's, I think I`ll wait until I tell node, they just know I want the account suspended ATM.

I will definitely try and post a message whenever I can, we have an internet cafe in town which has private booths! :)

Will be a sad day when I switch off, will be the second coming when I return.... :D

Yeah yeah, ok, maybe not, but still, :D

It will be a sad day for us too.....October 5th is always a sad day for me anyway, but to lose your humor and postings here will make it sadder than usual.
