I Must Vent - Windows Live

I hate it. With a passion. It is the most obtrusive, experience deadening piece of software on the planet. This is developed by the premier OS developer in the known universe? I fancy myself to have a broad vocabulary, despite this, I cannot express my loathing for this piece of code guano.

I am typing this as it is updating itself for the third time. I am trying to play a recently reinstalled game (I want all the bells and whistles with my new upgrade).

This is unbelievable. . . .

It's okay. You don't have to worry about hurting anyone's feelings, you're among friends here. We understand. We sympathize with your frustration with the complete lack of both polish and common sense. We understand the rage that finding a memory leak in the download manager can provoke.

Microsoft is on public record as stating that they consider the PC to be the by far biggest competitor of the 360. By using simple logic it is obvious then that any game service they develop for the former will not be given any R&D, thought, or support resources. The end result wil inevitably reflect this.

And yes, I uninstalled that buggy piece of feces as soon as I was done with Fallout 3. Whoever did the QA for GFWL should be fired, or at least deeply ashamed. It is by far the worst digital distributor in existence, and the fact that I include Russian torrent sites in that description should tell you all you need to know about my feelings for it...

I feel so much better now. Thank you for giving me a place to vent.

Thanks for the consoling words. I know good well-meaning folks worked on that program to pay the bills and put food on the table and I mean them no disrespect - so I blame the suits.

The bad news for me is that I am only about 1/3 of the way through Fallout 3, so GFWL will reside on my computer for at least the next 2 years, as it takes me that long for me to finish a game. The good news is (not a fanboy here, I just like PS) is that I own a PS3 and not an Xbox.

Likewise. My anger is entirely directed ad the decision makers, not at the poor hard working grunts who had to execute the gameplan.

And though I also own a 360 and PS3, my by far preferred gaming platform is the PC. I use other digital distributors and swear by them... just not GFWL.

 

I concur!!!! Though the letters are out of place, my mind sees " GodaWFuL" whenever GFWL appears.

 

I do not understand how people are having SO many issues with GFWL. I have several games that use it and I have NEVER EVER had a problem with it! Not one time since i started using it with Halo 2 vista when that came out.

Im sorry the only game i ever had a problem with was Gears of War and my save games, but it doesn't matter to me because i've already beaten it like 10 times and i play online only now. But everything else i use . Dirt 2, GTA IV, Red Faction guerrilla, Bioshock 2. I dont have any problems. Maybe im just lucky.

 

Now i must also vent!
first i din't understand what was the big deal about it.
but that was BEFORE i try to play online.
today i did that.
i just played tron out, so let's try it online and every time after 5 a 10 min i get thrown
out of the online match and start in the main screen!RAAAH!
