I need a new motherboard with PCI slot

I need a i7 motherboard that has a PCI slot, any suggestions.

 

What socket type - 1366 or 1155?

 

You need to be much more specific. Not only does the type socket matter, the chipset must support that specific CPU. Also, motherboards cost from $50 to $300 and more.

PCI is phasing out but there are still many motherboards that come with at least one PCI slot - in particular, full size ATX boards that have lots of room for many slots. But more and more new boards come with just PCIe slots. However, if there is an PCI card you MUST have support for, there are lots of PCIe to PCI adapters.

I have decided to update to PCIX saves a lot of trouble

 

PCI-X is backwards compatible to PCI, but not forward to PCIe. To ensure the best "future proofing" and most options, updating to PCIe would be best.

 

I have purchased a new m/b and will get a new sound card.

 

For anyone else reading this thread, it is possible to buy PCIe slot -> PCI adapter cards. (I think they are half height cards suitable for fitting half height PCI cards to PCIe slots, but I may have got that wrong, anyway, there may be some issue about fitting the height in your case)

Yes adapters are available to convert PCix to PCI check the bay.
