I have got myself a belkin F8E829-BNDL keyboard/mouse and the supplied software for the extra keys doesn't work. Does anybody know of a program that can read them and assign actions to them. I know one exsists as I came across one years ago but can't remember what is was called.

    Thanks

    Hi

Do try out what MarkTrent posted above to see if you can get the Belkin specific software to work first, in some cases its crucial to know what Windows version is used for various reasons, one crucial one these days especially if you run Windows Vista, is that

    1. not all software works, so do check for updates than the supplied CD
    2. Vista has a different security setup to XP and others, in that with some applictions/driver you need to run their setup in Administrators Mode as they dont have access to specific folders or the registry, so if Vista then right click the belkin softwares setup file and choose Run as Administrator.

If not then I have used this one in the past and it works fine, actually very easy to assign keys. Qliner and its free.

Sorry for the confusion, I'm running XP Pro X64 SP2. I was given this keyboard as the person that brought it couldn't get the extra keys to work in XP Home SP2&SP3. I've tried the stuff from belkin and we emailed thier support about 4 weeks ago without an answer yet. If I can't get this to work on my PC then it'll just be taken back to PC World. But I would like to get it to work as the keys are light with dark lettering (most are dark keys and white lettering that ?I don't like) and has a really nice action for typing.

I came across a program a while back that would let you press a key and then assign an action/macro to it. I had at the time an A4 keyboard that served me well untill a cup of coffee took a liking to it. I can remember the program reading the extra buttons on that. And No there is no A4 tech software installed as I was running XP Pro X86 SP3 at the time.

    Thanks

Belkin site just say's windows/Mac no version for each and the box just says windows/mac compatible. The driver/extra program loads in the system tray and I can edit the settings for the extra keys. They just don't register. This was the case for XP Home SP3 as well. I have since tried a few different A4Tech drivers and some register some keys but I havn't found one that will read all the extra keys. So At least I know they are physically working even if Belkins own drivers don't see them.

done that over 4 weeks ago when the extra keys failed to work on XP home (x86) and then again the other day when I tried it on my X64 system. Just got the standard auto reply that they have received the inquirey. I have since tried it under vista with the SAME non working results. I also managed to try it on a Mac OsX 10.5 and they work, so at least I know there is nothing physically wrong with the keyboard just the drivers.

I have just got a reply from belkin and after waiting about 6 weeks it kind of pathetic.

Here it is this is what I sent them.

    Customer Call Details sept 23 2008 17:11

I plugged this keyboard/Mouse bundle in then installed the software thats was on the CD ( I have even downloaded and tried the software from this site). I then reset when it asked me to and when windows was loaded I found that the extra buttons (home/favorites,email,search,my documents,my computer, desktop, calandar, f lock) do NOT work. The Little icon does appear in my task bar. I have tried changing the the actions of the buttons but they don't seem to reed in WindowsXP SP3. I have no other keyboard mouse driver running as I had a very plain keyboard previosly. I have since tried this on windows vista and it still didn't work, and a Mac OSX and it worked on the Mac. Please Help.

So basically they are willing to change the keyboard (which is good) even though I have kind of already told them it's the software thats at fault.
