I need a program to write math expressions fast.

I just need a free basic program to type math symbols, and all I can find is that MathType program which you must buy after 30 days and I'm not even sure if its Vista compatible. I need to type a proof for calculus tonight! Anyone know of a decent program?

 

You make no mention of your software package ie Microsoft....

If you are running Microsoft you have MS Word.

You are not looking for software that supports "calculus" You are looking for software that supports/includes an "equation editor" feature.

Not only does it support calculus symbols as well as scientific symbols and features to build them.

You will find this was included in your MS Word program open word then open word help and type equation editor to locate it or the instructions to install and/or access this feature. I wrote many formulas for a pharmaceutical company including moleculor design.

However, you can use the EQ field if you have not installed Equation Editor or if you want to write inline equations. An EQ field cannot be unlinked. If you double-click an EQ field, Microsoft Word converts the field to an embedded Equation Editor object.
Switches specify how to build the equation with the elements enclosed in parentheses. You can modify a switch by using the appropriate switch options.
