I need a SIMPLE Clipboard enhancement

I am looking for a real simple way to save certain chunks of text for later use. I have tried several Clipboard managers, and looked at a dozen more, and they all seem to have one flaw in common: they save everything you copy, instead of just those rare things that you know you want saved to use again later.

I'd love to be able to simply use another hot key combo than CTRL C to save something to my permanent Clipboard list, and something other than CTRL V to select a particular chunk from the Clipboard and paste it at my cursor. Some seem to come close. I can sort of trick Clipboard Master to do this, but the rest of the program is clumsy.

    Any suggestions appreciated. Thanks!

I am using the Clipboard Manager desktop gadget for Windows 7.

It does save everthing that goes into the clipboard, but it also has a permanent area. That's the area I use most; very useful for many things!

    I use ditto http://www.majorgeeks.com/Ditto_d5378.html

also a portable version if you go to the site http://ditto-cp.sourceforge.net/

You get to decide how many entries you want to save and how long a time period they remain before they expire. I normally have 25 items waiting to be copied or pasted elsewhere; I think you can have more than 100, should you want to.

Thanks for the replies. Unfortunately, both suggestions are for programs that do exactly what I don't want to do. I definitely do not want to save everything I copy, but only the rare item I specify. I would even be willing to type or paste the items to be saved manually, if I could easily type a key combo that would display my list of clips and make it easy to paste.

    Any other suggestions appreciated!

I don't know if there is a program out there that does exactly what you want.

If you are on Windows 7, you should give Clipboard Manager a try. You can just ignore the 'All' area, and clear it anytime you want. That's what I do; I only use the Permanent area.

Do you need win7 for the Clipboard ManageR?

I believe Windows Desktop Gadgets require Windows 7 (or Windows 8).
