I have been working on a laptop toshiba satilite running wins7, i did hard boot, and reset HDD, at least now I can get into F2, and thats it, it prompts to say insert bootable disk, the only disk I have is system mechanic professional, and in there, there is everything to boot the pc with but can't restore the files, another cd came with it called search and recover, can't get into that. Now I do have Mr. Fix it.
OMG, what can I do to get this up and running again, I don't want to spend $$ for media cd's when there might be a way to restore lost files already on the hard drive?
Maybe someone can give me some advise, please?

Have you tried going into device manager and looking for any"!" in a yellow triangle? You can double click on them and try installing the drivers that way. If it says it is unable to locate them, try browsing for them. Point it to look in your CD drive. Make sure your win XP is in the drive and let it search there for it. I would start with your internet first.

All I had was wins xp installer which came without drivers, oh yes, I need something alright, lol. Have no sound, no wireless, web cam not installed. don't know where to start, want to get on line first, so as not to use any more cds and countless downloads on my other pc.

I would download service pack 3 and install it. This may resolve your problems. Windows XP comes with a vast array of drivers integrated into thee install disk simply for this reason.

Or you can go into device manager and try to manually install the drivers. Either way it is going to ask you to install SP3 at some point.

Right click on your Network adapters that have the yellow exclamation marks. Select properties, and under the details tab provide the Vendor and Device ID's after selecting Hardware ID's in the drop down box. This will provide the info for what drivers are needed so that you can at least get access to the internet.

When going into the devise and clicking on the yellow ones, then finding them on the cd, NOT, just not going good, tried countless downloads ontoa black cd to install on laptop but, NOT, that's not happening either, must be doing something wrong or am I missing something entirely all together?
