i need help removing a virus

i have a virus known as a BackDoor-BDD that Mcafee cannot quarentine, clean, or remove. I file extention is

C:\System Volume Information\_restore{7179A762-AE6A-4CC5-A081-F9848CC84F34}\RP97\A0015960.exe\A0015960.EXE

Search cannot find the file and viewing the folder in "show hidden files and folders" still doesn't allow me to view the 'system volume information' folder.

Mcaffe says I need to change the access rights in order to delete that file...somebody please send info with any suggestions, preferably ones with how to change my access right and remove this thing myself, otherwise any help will do.

 

We'll need more information, especially your Operating System. If you are running XP, you will need to turn off System Restore, and then try to remove the virus. After that, you can turn System Restore back on. Let us know.

More info then...Windows XP SP2, Mcafee Anti-virus 7, and now that you've told me, system restore is turned off...still tells me i need access rights

 

you might want to try some of the popular online virus scan sites.
pccillian has one, so does panda, also I think norton does too. I recommend panda. give one of them a try.

 

Perhaps you could dwnld vcleaner and run it while in safe mode. Worked for me.
