    Hi all,

I need some help on SLI and CPU choice. I have two SLI boards the KN1 SLI and then M2N deluxe. One with a AMD X2 Athlon 3200+ (the 939 board) and then the AM2 is a 3400+ clocked to 3.1ghz.

I have two 7800 cards running and have since changed over to the AM2 but don't seemed to have gained any advantage if anything its slower. I have dropped a gig of ram but i have changed from DDR to DDR 6400, should this be the case ??

I am not used to SLI setups but i am an IT technician by trade, gaming is a new thing i am giving ago and started with this relitevly cheap setup. Please help and advise all you gurus out there.

If you would like to chat and advise my MSN is <snipped email> Please send in message Major Geek :p

    Thanks

    Jason

    Welcome to MajorGeeks! :wave

What problems are you having? If you really want to step up a little, look for some 8800GT cards to run in SLI. How hare you benchmarking your system?

    Hey Fred,

Thanks for your kind welcome and your reply.

Problems are it just feels very sluggish, I am running Vista homne premium SP1, Latest Nvidia drivers and it doesn't seem all that fast my vista score is a very embarrasing 4.4, this is mainly down to the hard drive that i will soon be replacing from IDE to SATA, but my CPU is coming in at only 4.8. Is this right ?

Its very frustrating as money is very tight and i am wanting to know what rig to keep for the best so i will be able to sell on the rest to upgrade a bit more.

Any advice would be gratly appreciated.

Also as for benchmarking, I have nothing other than the Vista benchmark.

    PLEASE HELP ! !

Personally, If your rig works, then leave it..
don't spend anymore money on it, save up and go grab a quad core :)

Fiddling around with older technology isnt werth your money, and your time unless your just doing it for fun.

It's todo with the compatability of everything, anyway how much RAM do you have..?

    With vista I recomend 2GB+
